Production Manager

World's largest mattress manufacturing facility is looking for an Area Production Manager to manage specific fabrication areas in a state-of-the-art climate controlled environment with a highly engaged workforce. Safety first culture with quality standards built into all processes.
Directs, manages and coordinates applicable fabrication and assembly operations for Tempur Production by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and staff.

Manage supervisors that oversee associates in applicable production areas. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of applicable production areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's mission, vision, values, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include developing supervisors, maintaining an engaged workforce, interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, coaching, and leading by example.

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

--Follow all safety guidelines and participate as a fully-empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
--Drives continuous improvement within department as it pertains to safety, quality, schedule attainment, cost reduction, productivity, and employee engagement.
--Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
--Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
--Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
--Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
--Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
--Staff, train, and man product line to meet customer requirements.
--Achieve and maintain quoted cost standards and quoted variances for assigned department.
--Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
--Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
--Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
--Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
--Expedites operation that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
--Prepares production reports.

High School


??? Bachelor???s degree in related field and ten or more years of directly related experience is preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
??? Advance knowledge of PC usage required to include using Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry operations.
??? Lean manufacturing training/experience.
??? Demonstrated experience using Axapta or other program is required.
??? Have the ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
??? Expert math skills are needed; to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations.
??? Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks associated with the production of mattresses.
??? Must be able to measure using the metric system
??? Have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical form.
??? While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
??? The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
??? The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
??? Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

A sense of humor is required, and exceptional interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills are a must. The position is not a desk job. (S)he will be expected to spend time on the floor, know and interact with all levels of associates.
