Dermatology Medical Assistant
Our client in the Gwinnett county area is looking for a qualified Medical Assistant with a min of 1 year of Dermatology experience for the Braselton office .The individual needs to have EMA experience.
Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodation services for patients and staff. Provides assistance to providers and to other Medical Assistant personnel. As appropriate and necessary, provides back up for other staff members. The Medical Assistant must have a flexible nature, capable of performing one task in a context of tasks to accomplish a goal. Must always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor with patients, providers, management and co-workers.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Cleans, straightens room, and changes table paper after each patient is seen. Keeps rooms stocked with supplies at all times.
Escort patients to exam room, chatting pleasantly. Prepare patients for various types of procedures, giving necessary instruction and keeping schedules flowing smoothly.
Assist patients with disrobing and dressing; performing chaperone role when necessary.
Records brief history and description of problem to be checked and performs vitals per office policy. Has appropriate supplies/handouts ready for the doctor. Checks each chart for problem list and updates as needed.
Assists the physician with exams and treatment.
Procures lab samples such as venous blood samples and urine samples. Completes lab requisitions and sends specimens to appropriate lab.
Educate patients as directed by provider, including using take-home instruction sheets, answering routine questions as directed.
Moh??s medical assistants will manage and update emergency kit drugs
Returns patient phone calls, answers medical questions as instructed, phones in prescriptions.
Capable of communicating with pharmacies and pharmacy staff for purposes of calling in new prescriptions and refills for prescriptions.
Promote practices products and services in a positive manner by being knowledgeable of dermatology, dermatologic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, elective procedures and various over-the-counter products available for purchase at check-out or on our website.
Prepares the clinical portion of necessary forms, Obtains necessary referrals. Obtains insurance authorization or waivers as needed.
Prepares reports, letters, etc. for doctor??s review. Notifies patients of results. Files reports and other documentation appropriately in patient??s chart.
Helps doctors stay on time by keeping patients flowing, communicating with front office personnel as required to keep patients informed
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Perform central supply/autoclave/infection control procedures including
Keep work room and sterilizing area clean and tidy on a daily basis.
Clean all instruments and equipment used in surgery in a manner accepted by recognized standards of practice.
Upon instruction, assemble instrument sets completely and accurately.
Wrap instruments and supplies in a manner appropriate to sterilization and use.
Load sterilizer appropriately, pursuant to manufacturer's recommendations.
Be familiar with the operation, cleaning and testing of all sterilizing equipment, including proper documentation in logbooks.
Unload and store supplies and instruments from sterilizer.
Prepare extra supplies as requested by staff and to maintain level of sterile supplies, appropriate to procedure schedule.
Notify appropriate personnel of problems related to sterilization and supply of packs available for use.
Check refrigerator thermometer and log temperature; if temperature exceeds therapeutic parameters, notify staff and implement corrective mechanism.Perform clerical duties, upon request, including
Double checking patient charts for patients on current day's schedule
Examining charts for prescription refill requests
Filing documents into correct charts Returning charts to appropriate area for transcription
Remove appropriate tapes and replenish for transcription.
Understands and complies with OSHA, CLIA, AAAHC and HIPAA compliance programs.
Follows the practice policy that all physicians and staff have the necessary medical and protected health information (PHI) to provide the highest quality medical care possible while protecting the confidentiality of PHI of our patients to the highest degree possible.
One to two years of related medical practice experience required. Additional education may be substituted for years of related experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required, preferably dermatology. Automated computerized scheduling and personal computer knowledge preferred.
Required: CPR and/or ACLS certification
Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant Certificate
Must have Dermatology experience!!!!!
