Safety and Quality Director (Director of HSSQE)
The Director of Health and Safety for SIL is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all safety functions for SIL operations and fleet. This includes, but is not limited to, the implementation and enforcement of ISM requirements; the development and execution of safety programs; the tracking and investigation of incident, injuries, and illnesses; and the achievement of the Company's safety goals as outlined by the Safety Management System and Company management.
Ensures ISM Code compliance and perform DPA duty responsibility.
Supports the drive to Goal Zero as outlined in the Safety Management Systems Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy.
Receives and reviews all incident, injury, and near miss reports to ensure completeness and closeout.
Conducts and coordinates incident and injury investigations to identify root causes and assigns department managers responsible for corrective actions.
Ensures that the safety statistics (lost time injuries, near miss reports, etc.) are accurate and up-to-date.
Maintains OSHA logs and posts appropriate year-end data as required.
Ensures that all employees, shore-side and shipboard, are trained on the Safety Management System.
Schedules and facilitates Internal/External ISM Audits
Designs and execute formal onboard training programs.
Assists with emergency response as needed.
Manages the Company???s Safety program.
Drafts and publishes safety alerts, learning from incidents, quarterly safety topics, and other newsletters to shore-side and shipboard personnel.
Facilitates Safety Summit meetings.
Performs other position related duties as specified by management.
Supervise SIL Safety Terminal, Warehouse, Vessel, and Security support staff
Education and Experience
Bachelor???s Degree from an accredited institution.
5 years of experience in Safety Management preferred, including the preparation and execution of internal and external Quality, Environmental, Safety and Security HSE policies.
Warehousing, Logistics Operations.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
Good working knowledge of ISM, ISPS, OSHA, OPA '90 and other associated regulatory compliance requirements
A demonstrated ability to conduct incident reviews and accident investigations in accordance with Company procedures
Highly developed documentation, writing and verbal communication skills
Exceptional project management skills
Good interpersonal skills to develop relationships and promote/influence safe working environments.
Possess excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
Good working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and the ability to quickly grasp and work with new systems
