Bilingual Safety Manager

Placement Type: Career Placement
Shift:1st shift 7am-6pm (Mon-Friday)
This role is salaried, and the candidate selected will be expected to work on call in the case of Safety Emergencies on site

Are you a leader in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)? Do you enjoy compliance, auditing and writing company policies and procedures? One of the largest tortilla food manufacturers is looking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Safety Manager. You will directly impact the safety culture of the facility by participating in coaching others on incident investigation, coordination of safety meetings and training.

Acts as in-plant voice for EHS related issues; concentrating on at risk behaviors and conditions throughout the facility
Verifies compliance with EHS standards, through auditing, observations and inspections
Reviews written procedures to verify accuracy; lockout, SOPs, etc
Records Safety Committee meeting minutes
Participates in accident investigations and follow up on corrective actions identified through completion
Actively participating in the company EH&S team
Tracks the following programs and notify management of any deficiencies; training database, roll-out compliance, and safety inspections
Files EHS documentation according to the safety binder requirements
Updates the Safety Visual Workplace and other Boards as required throughout the facility
Coaching others on incident investigation, plant auditing, and training

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM

High School degree or equivalent combination of experience
Must possess excellent communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Organizational skills
Computer Skills: Excel, Word, and Power Point
Basic writing and math skills
Ability to make objective decisions and support them
The ability to travel and relocate as required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done

Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
Have an OSHA 30 HR General Industry certification or able to attain one in 90 days
First Aid and CPR training/certified preferred or ability to get certified in 90 days
Familiarity with manufacturing environments
Full working knowledge of these department regulations OSHA, EPA, and FDA
