Manual Lathe Operator
Sales and manufacturing company in the Kennesaw/Marietta area is searching for a full time, temp to hire Machinist. This position is in a growth company set to prosper in the current economic environment. We are seeking an energetic person who is creative and can adapt to company changes. The machinist operates conventional machine tools to manufacture or alter components per engineering drawing, sketches, or verbal instruction from the department supervisor. The machinist will be trained to operate machines independently and perform their own inspections documenting QA records on appropriate forms, performing routine maintenance on machine tools, and performing housekeeping duties. Under minimal supervision, machinist sets up and operates manually controlled machines in a skilled and precision manner. Bench work includes fabrication, maintenance, repair, alteration of parts and machinery, machine parts and fabricate tooling.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
--Care and use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, calipers, height gages, surface plates, gage blocks, etc.) to meet tolerance requirements of parts.
--Care and use of standard hand tools (wrenches, pliers, files, deburring tools, scales, squares, protractors, etc.)
--Bench operation, including: print reading, layout, sawing, deburring, filing, tapping, reaming, fitting, and assembly.
--Metal cutting and fabrication: Operate conventional machine tools, calculate appropriate speeds and feeds for material being cut, perform basic setup and operation of common machine tools (saws, mills, lathes, drill presses, keyseaters, hydraulic presses, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment)
--Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto equipment.
--Follow standardized work instructions, complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
--Maintain dimensional machining accuracy and required surface finishes.
--Plan the sequence of operations.
--Maintain inventory of machined parts.
--Inspection/Quality Assurance: Inspect parts for conformation to engineering drawings using precision measuring tools, record actual size on inspection forms, and document manufacturing operations on appropriate forms.
--Assist in production operations as needed.
--Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
--Follow all safety procedures and requirements.
--Machinist must maintain a professional appearance, have a positive attitude, and be able to work as a team player in a diverse environment.
--Ability to use heavy machinery including overhead cranes and forklifts.
--MIG/TIG welding experience a plus.
--Fundamental skills: Machine shop safety, read and interpret engineering drawings, and machine shop math.
