Duration: 3 years option to extend

Shift: 12 am - 12 pm, 12 pm - 12 am 3/4 days on 3/4 days off

Job Description:

As a Operations Technician, you will be working in an environment that provides monitoring for mission critical services to ensure a secure, uninterrupted flow of all data and services. You will proactively monitor and resolve application, system, network and security incidents. You must possess ability to analyze and make suggestions for problem resolution, the ability to solve problems with good initiative and sound judgment and make decisions independently with minimal guidance. You will perform these tasks using various standard tools, internal ticketing systems and monitoring consoles. Keeping the network reliable and secure ensures that our users stay connected with the applications, products, and services that drive business operations. The fast paced environment will require you to troubleshoot and improve existing systems and processes. The ideal candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and an eye to automate routine tasks. Will need to have strong fundamental understanding of IT infrastructure including Windows Server, VMware, SQL Server, Cisco network equipment, IT Network and Systems security. Would be helpful to have prior experience with SOX or PCI compliance.

Responsibilities:

Proactively monitor and support an operations center to ensure the stability and security of the data and services provided to our customers. Respond to alerts/alarms according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Manage trouble-ticketing system ensuring accurate and up-to-date information. Work with internal and external groups during operations. Collaborate with internal and external groups to help identify and resolve issues affecting our services. Develop and maintain operation center policies, procedures, and tools.

Skills:

3 years of experience in a 24x7 network operations center or security operations center.

Must be able to work in a 24x7 shift environment with a flexibility to work diverse schedules.

Identify, isolate and help resolve Network and customer impacting issues in a 24x7 environment.

Make decisions and take actions to prevent network interruptions and service degradation.

Process and evaluate information received from all available sources, and respond accurately to logs, alarms and incidents, and make necessary recommendations for remediation.

Prior experience working with enterprise ticketing systems and monitoring tools.

Basic knowledge of internet protocols.

Experience managing Linux/Windows systems as well as network, servers and storage devices in a production environment.

Experience with Change Management and escalation methodologies.

Must possess a sense of urgency and experience/ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must be able to follow processes and be process oriented.

Must be self-motivated and willing to learn.

Demonstrate ability to promote teamwork and work in a team environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Effective interpersonal skills (written and oral).

Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Scripting automation experience is a plus.

Must be available to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Escalation to level 2 and 3 support teams.

Ensuring client SLA is upheld.

Review alarm logs to ensure alarms are properly addressed.

Good interpersonal skills; effective team player

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Ticketing System - ServiceNow

Knowledge Base -ServiceNow and Customized Database

Monitoring - SolarWinds, CA SOI, Airwave

EDUCATION:

Four Year degree or 1-2 years work experience in an IT position or classes.

A+ Certification / Network + certification

Previous alert/triage experience is a plus.

Open to bright, motivated college students or grads.
