Data Center Technician
The Data Center Technician will report to the Hosting Services Manager. The Hosting Services team is responsible for supporting 3 data centers and 13 ECHs for University IT and its clients. The ideal candidate has a broad interest in IT as a whole, is a self-starter, and team player. The primary role of this position will be to perform computing hardware installations, moves and decommissions for a large variety of complex IT systems commonly found in corporate and research data center environments. These include, but are not limited to servers, clusters, consoles, network switches, routers and other voice and data peripheral equipment. In addition to physical hardware installations, this position will be required to install low voltage communications cabling as part of the activation process.
Knowledge of BMC Remedy, Aperture Vista, Struxureware DCO and DCE, and ServiceNow. Familiarity with Dell, HP, Cisco UCS server equipment. Able to perform hardware upgrades, parts replacements. Must be able to terminate and test copper and fiber.
