NOC Technician

A client of ours in San Antonio, TX is looking for a Network Operations Center Technician for a long term contract opportunity.

Qualified candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • An Associate degree in a computer related field or Certification in a computer related field or one (1) or more years of computer related experience working in an IT environment providing service or support in any of the following areas; monitoring network, application, system service desk support
  • Working understanding of networking concepts and fundamentals
  • Understanding of various computer hardware system configurations (server, PC's, storage system)
  • Working knowledge of various operating system concepts (ex. NT, Windows 7, UNIX)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to exchange information, explain procedures, techniques and answer questions in a clear logical manner
  • Must be able to establish an effective working relationship with co-workers and users
  • Technical ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware/software issues
  • Must have familiarity with operating protocols for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Must have ability to solve common applications issues
  • Ability to learn new technologies and assist with training end-users
  • Exhibit professionalism and confidence
  • Assist in enforcement of corporate standard for use of PC, software, and IT applications
  • Provides strong communication and teamwork between IT support resources and user community
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, holidays and call-duty on a regular rotating basis
  • Ability to work unscheduled time, shift work, and weekends, sometimes in a pressure situation
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work with minimum supervision
  • Serves as a link between multiple support areas to coordinate problem and/or incident resolution
Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory for consideration):

  • Prior experience with SAP, HP Operations Manager for Windows, Orion, SMA Opcon/xps, HP Service Manager, or other work management software
  • Prior experience with communications systems and services
  • Support Center Analyst, A+, or other industry-recognized certifications
  • Familiarity with relevant utility operations and business processes
