Financial Systems Analyst

job summary:
VP, Financial Systems

This position is responsible for overall management of the financial and related systems for an advertising firm's US entities. The VP, Financial Systems will manage all responsibilities of the Financial Systems Team, including JD Edwards, TAP/TCC, and EV5 development and support, as well as configuration changes and business process improvements for all finance systems. In this role, the VP, Financial Systems will lead financial system implementations at the company and will lead the Financial Systems Team in providing systems support for all users.

As part of the Finance Management Team, the VP, Financial Systems will define annual goals relating to financial systems development and maintenance, and manage and develop the Financial Systems team to ensure timely, accurate and efficient execution of deliverables.

The VP, Financial Systems is a well-organized and analytical leader with an accounting background and JD Edwards implementation and support experience, specifically relating to general ledger, job cost accounting, contract billing, financial reporting & budgeting, AR, AP and fixed assets. This candidate must have excellent verbal, written, presentation and planning skills and a proven track record of improving processes and leading teams. We are looking for a dedicated and driven person who will lead the Financial Systems team to progress, while maintaining a positive and energetic attitude in our very dynamic environment.

Description of Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities

  • Lead and Develop the Finance Systems Team
  • Represent the Financial Systems on Finance Management Team
  • Define annual goals of the department
Systems Development

  • Responsible for ensuring development projects requested are valid and are presented to the Steering Committee for approval
  • Responsible for ensuring technical specifications address the business requirements
  • Manage the Financial Systems team to ensure timelines are met, user test scripts are created, systems tests are performed, users test, sign off from users obtained and IBM committed to a production deployment date
Systems Configuration Changes

  • Responsible for ensuring any accounting/business changes that require configuration changes in the system are:

    • Discussed with the business
    • Defined by Systems
    • Defined, tested and reviewed with Accounting
Business Process Improvements

  • Responsible for looking for opportunities using existing technology or new technology to improve business processes
Local IT and Coretech

  • Work with CIO and Coretech to get issues addressed
  • Lead for non-IT part of system implementations
  • Manage the project for the Systems team
  • Interpret business requirements from these companies and identify how our financial systems can meet these requirements or if new functionality is required
  • Interpret accounting and operational requirements and show how our financial systems can meet these requirements
  • Lead certain user training sessions
  • Provide Post Go Live support
  • Lead for data conversion activities, including mapping of legacy data to new system, data uploads to new system, data reconciliation between legacy data provided and output from new system
Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or Information Technology
  • 10-15 years business experience
  • Must have worked on JDE Systems implementations and support, preferably in a service industry
  • Knowledge of SOX and IT-related controls
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of:
  • Accounting practices and terminology related to general ledger, job cost accounting, contract billing, financial reporting & budgeting, AR, AP and fixed assets.
  • The interrelation of JDE applications and JDE database structures
  • Database technologies such as MS SQL
  • CPA, a plus
  • Accounting experience, with participation in monthly close, a plus
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
  • Effectively organize and prioritize work
  • Simultaneously manage and deliver multiple projects
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel and Access Skills
  • Experience using a Business Intelligence Tool
  • Display a positive attitude when faced with stressful situations
  • Desire to continually develop professionally
