Our client, a leading distributor in central NJ, is looking for an Enterprise IT Architect to join the team. This role will provide the corporate technological vision and direction to meet and support their technology, infrastructure, and business strategy. The Enterprise IT Architect is responsible for developing a corporate long-term technology plan including policies, procedures and standards, with a focus on integrating technology into company operations to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

  1. Provide expert technical leadership for the development of strategic directions for IT architecture, standards, principles and best practices and guide related initiatives, projects and services:

    • Lead the Enterprise Architecture practice with a service oriented mindset
    • Create and actively maintain an Architecture Community of Practice
    • Advise management regarding the direction of existing and future corporate/department computer systems, emerging retail technology solutions and new products in line with company's strategic direction
    • Create, maintain and manage an architecture vision and blueprint for managing information across the enterprise as well as external parties; including customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies and standards organizations
    • Lead the effort to establish the architectural governance elements as a part of the overall CISD Project Governance process and architectural artifacts as a part of the Project Management methodology, including the use of Open Source technologies and components
    • Lead strategic annual architecture planning and review; working with other application areas, foundational/shared services
    • Assess business/technical feasibility and impacts on future and current systems, recommending solutions and priorities
    • Participate in the preparing of annual plans and budgets for corporate and integrated initiatives
  2. Provide guidance to Delivery initiatives:

    • Contribute to the definition, implementation and governance of enterprise information system/information technology and architecture plans, policies and standards to guide the development, integration, implementation and maintenance of various infrastructures and systems
    • Review project/initiative documentation throughout their lifecycle to ensure compliance with Information Technology standards and principles and communicate that to the project teams
    • Report on status to the Enterprise Architecture team and provide advice to application teams and vendors regarding technology risk assessments, problem resolution and project issues
  3. Provide guidance for various architecture domains embedded in the application and shared services teams on projects and road maps for compatibility with the enterprise's vision:
  • Information Architecture

    • Information models that comprise of data content, data relationships and structure
    • Data management standards and practices, with specific focus on data quality and data integrity across the corporation
    • Business requirements mapping to the enterprise data and process models
  • Infrastructure Architecture

    • Infrastructure architecture blueprints and roadmaps and reviewing solutions for infrastructure compliancy to these documents
    • Capacity planning, monitoring, and performance planning/testing
    • Process development in the areas of change management, problem management, SLA management, capacity planning, performance management, etc.
  • Application Architecture

    • All manners of middleware-related projects including messaging (Enterprise Service Bus, Service Oriented Architecture, Enterprise Application Integration), application/web servers and, portal
    • Technology strategies to ensure compatibility with overall enterprise technologies
    • Application architectures, communication protocols, and other key architectural elements within a coherent enterprise architecture strategy
    • Technical architecture blueprints, roadmaps and review solutions for compliance
  • Security Architecture

    • Software engineering and product development process, related to security, sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business
    • Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects and initiatives are in alignment with the corporate security architecture
Large-scale projects and road maps for compatibility with the enterprise's security standards and policies

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, systems design, computer science, or other related field
  • 2+ years experience as an Enterprise Architect
  • 5+ years' experience as a Solution/Project, Application, Business, or Data Architect
  • 10+ years' experience in progressively advancing roles within IT
  • Familiarity with Architectural tools

    • IDS Sheer ARIS
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Archi
    • Others
  • Familiarity with Major ERP solutions ( SAP, Oracle, JDA etc. ) ,Mobile and Web Development platforms , database platforms (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server

  • Retail/eCommerce experience
  • TOGAF or Zachman Certification
  • IT Architecture Certification (ITAC)
  • ITIL Foundations
  • Experienced in effectively interacting and communicating with business partners and external vendors
  • Consolidate requirements and translate them into deliverables
  • Experienced in several technology architecture design or re-design efforts
  • Assess potential implications of re-designing for multiple functions or departments
  • Able to present the results and benefits of architecture re-design to corporate management
  • Has mastered technology architecture concepts, methods, and tools
  • Can cite company or industry specific examples of successes, failures and lessons learned
  • Can identify the effectiveness and completeness of Business and Technology strategies to ensure alignment with cross-organization strategies
  • Experienced in assessing business benefits, costs and risks on multiple types of projects
  • Proven ability to create an environment where identifying project risks is positive
  • Capable of playing a leadership role in conducting value assessments using value management tools and job aids
  • Able to identify the risks associated with IT assets including open source components and in collaboration with the Security Group develop appropriate standards and security policies to mitigate them
