A client of ours in San Antonio, Texas is looking for an Applications Programmer for a permanent opportunity. Qualified candidates will have the following qualifications:

SUMMARY:

  • DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATED APPLICATION SYSTEMS USING HMI, SQL SERVER, VB.NET, AND LADDER LOGIC


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems
  • Knowledge and experience with SQL Server Database Applications (Coursework applicable)
  • Knowledge and experience with VB.Net Applications (Coursework applicable)
  • 20-25% Travel Required


Daily Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops GUI, PLC, and Database system applications using a number of industry components in accordance to specifications and scope of assigned projects.
  • Performs design work including researching data and determining design criteria in accordance with specifications, required standards, and codes for assigned projects.
  • Prepares project documents, such as project submittals, for assigned projects under the direction of an assigned Project Lead.
  • Reviews and checks engineering drawings, schedules, and reports for completeness, accuracy, and soundness of applied engineering principles as they relate to all assigned projects.
  • Obtains or Produces required documents as required from inter-departments or outside agencies for assigned utility projects.
  • Oversees project specific activities including specification review, project development, testing, and start-up and commissioning to ensure quality control.
  • Assists in the preparation of performance reports, work process improvement programs, and forecasting of estimated man-hour to completion.
  • Confers with other inter-departmental personnel and field forces, representatives of other agencies, customers, engineering firms, contractors, developers, manufacturers and others regarding resolution of applications and automations problems.
  • Develops, monitors and evaluates computer programs and new developments in application and automations market for feasibility and value in the detention equipment and security electronics field.
  • Monitors market developments including an evaluation of potential new applications for improvement to new/existing products and services.
  • Implement use of new technologies, cost saving techniques/materials, improved safety procedures, and least disruptive construction practices.
  • Assist in the sales process in the magnitude of a technical expert on application products
  • Train end-users on application products on individual projects
  • Interact with company ERP system on project and department workflows
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge and experience with HMI (Human Machine Interface) Applications
  • Knowledge and experience with Ladder Logic & PLC
  • Ability to apply sound principles to design, development, testing and start-up issues.
  • Ability to write technically accurate and timely project documents.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and to be flexible in work assignments, and assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential functions.
  • Ability to make public presentations.
  • Ability to communicate with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Ability to work independently.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned equipment and vehicles
