Project Overview: Google Battery Technology Group is responsible for delivering battery solution for entire Google consumer hardware devices. It is crucial to conduct validation testing with engineering battery samples in order to launch products successfully. Qualified candidate will perform battery tests, operate test equipments, collect data, and write test reports based on data collected.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities: - Develop and write test procedure & script for automated battery tests using equipment user interface - Manage test equipments; daily operation, reliable data collection, and troubleshooting - Extract data, plot graphs, and write test reports
Overall Responsibilities: - Develop and write test procedures & script for automated battery tests using equipment user interface - Manage test equipment; daily operations, reliable data collection, and troubleshooting - Perform various equipment calibration and maintenance - Optimize equipment usage in dynamic work environment - Extract data, plot graphs, and write test reports - Work with others in cross-functional environment and follow written & verbal instructions - Retain confidentiality of testing, test procedures, and data at all times - Make fixtures and manage soldering, ultrasonic welding, spot welding, and microscope - Maintain cleanliness of lab space and inventory of parts - Self-disciplined individual with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications: - Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and/or related field - At least 2-3 years of experience as a Lab Technician - At least 2-3 years of experience of Lab testing and data collection - Excellent personal communication skills in team environment - Hands-on experience of problem solving and troubleshooting with equipments & testing set-up - Organizing skills for daily routine works with self-disciplined attitude - Prior knowledge of Li-polymer and Li-ion cell testing (cell internal structure) - Prior knowledge of Li-polymer and Li-ion battery pack testing (safety protection, fuel gauge) - Prior experience of using impedance meters (Hioki, Solartron or IM6), Maccor or Arbin battery tester. - Prior experience of battery testing in terms of electrical engineering knowledge - Familiar with safety aspect of batteries and battery testing - Proficiencies in MS office and/or Google Docs - Exceptional writing skills
skills: Nice to Have Skills/Not Required: - Understanding of I2C/SMBus communication for smart battery pack - Test capability for HDQ/CAN communication for smart battery pack - Experience with battery failure analysis - Knowledge in glove-box operation for battery cell tear-down - Understanding of electrical schematic & capability to create simple test boards
