Director Corporate and Marketing Communications

job summary:
Responsible for worldwide corporate and marketing communications that differentiate the company, communicate our value proposition and generate sales leads in support of strategic business objectives. The position is also responsible for employee communications and engagement. Focus areas include corporate and product branding; public relations; product marketing strategy; integrated campaigns; print and digital media; advertising, events and market research.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under limited supervision, with initiative and dedication, performs tasks such as but not limited to the following:

1. Use knowledge of the company's products, capabilities, industry, competition and customers to develop company messaging and brand strategies, as well as differentiate the company and build awareness.

2. Continually monitor market and industry developments, and in collaboration with the company's executive leadership and product management, adjust company and product messaging and marketing strategies accordingly.

3. Develop and write a wide variety of business internal/external communications and product marketing content across print and digital mediums, such as news releases, web, social media posts, data sheets, presentations advertisements, email marketing, announcements, promotions, and newsletters.

4. Interview and collaborate with subject matter experts to understand technical content and translate it into written and multimedia marketing communications such as white papers, magazine articles, blog posts, data sheets, and promotional videos.

5. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of technical and sales subject matter experts to develop product marketing messaging, strategies, marketing plans and integrated campaigns.

6. Function as the liaison between the press and corporate management; be the media spokesperson for the Company.

7. Stay abreast of ever-evolving marketing communications multimedia and web capabilities such as cloud-based tools, internet marketing capabilities, and social media channels and implement them as appropriate.

8. Responsible for the content development, optimization and maintenance of the company's internal website, external website, and partner portal, as well as social media, email and internet marketing channels, including content, capabilities, strategy, processes and metrics.

9. Manage one direct report and outside creative media, news wire, event and other vendors.

10. Responsible for overall communications function operations, including people, processes and tools.

11. Manage internal and external event campaigns and logistics, such as trade shows, employee socials, and philanthropic fundraisers.

12. Manage the company's customer, partner, and newsletter subscription lists, and sales lead inquiry database. Maintain lists, monitor and analyze activity, assess trends.

13. Conduct market research and analysis for special project such as new products, channel expansion, competitive analysis, etc. as needed. Present findings and make recommendations.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or related field.

Technical background in security, telecommunications or networking preferred, but not required.

Excellent verbal, presentation, WRITTEN and interpersonal skills

Executive communications experience.

Must have a professional demeanor

Experience handling sensitive and confidential information

Ability to write across a wide variety of mediums and be a multimedia storyteller

General knowledge of graphics design and production

Visual design training, creativity, and experience working with creative media talent.

Experience in video script sriting and working with video production teams preferred

Knowledge of website design, functionality, navigation, usability best practices; experience with a content management system preferred

Experience with the use of Google Analytics and search engine optimization

Knowledge of digital marketing best practices, including email marketing, internet marketing, and social media marketing

Experience working with executive, business development staff, customers, investors, and partners.

Event management experience

Working knowledge of MS Office, including Powerpoint, Word, and Publisher

Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite prefrred, but not required

Experience with or willingness to learn cloud-based marketing and collaborative tools, as well as media development applications such as GoToTraining, Powtoons, Piktochart, Wistia video hosting, MailChimp, Unbounce landing pages, eBook software and Camtasia

Must be a creative problem solver and able to work with limited resources

Must be results-oriented, self motivated, and able to lead and influence others

Must possess excellent research and analytical skills, and demonstrate sound judgement

Minimum of one year supervisory experience

Minimum of 5 years related experience

Relationships with journalists and editors of government and defense publications preferred but not required
