Feature Development Engineer

Job Description

Primary responsibilities involve development of embedded algorithms and software for digital mapping in autonomous automotive applications. Responsibilities include low-level software development and testing using C/C++ to support communication and sensor fusion originating from vehicle vision and GPS systems. Development platforms include Microsoft Visual Studio, Keil uVison MDK, Eclipse and others. Embedded ARM microcontrollers running Linux, and controllers running smaller real-time RTOS environments. Experience with various communication busses such as RS232, I2C, SPI, CAN or FlexRay. Experience with Windows GUI and graphics development is a plus. Experience with Raspberry Pi is a plus. Successful candidate should be very comfortable with software IDEs and debuggers.

Will be part of an advanced technology development team including embedded software development, RF hardware engineering, quality, and manufacturing for automotive applications.

Specific Duties:

  • Develop embedded software solutions from provided requirements.
  • Write and conduct unit tests.
  • Develop data analysis methods and assess system behavior.
  • Develop software to implement other new features and improve performance.
  • Support code reviews for team members.
  • Support development of solutions on existing GPS / Horizon products.
  • Interface with development teams from offices around the globe.
  • Contribute current status, relevant data and constructive opinion at team/section meetings; Exemplify consensus building and team-focused behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Skills/Qualifications:

  • BSEE, BSCS or Equivalent + 5 years related experience in embedded SW applications
  • Desired software skillset includes strong C/C++ skills.
  • Experience with various compilers, IDEs, RTOS, debuggers, in-circuit emulators is a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience with RS232, SPI or I2C required. CAN experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience with integration of middleware, and development of low level drivers working from a vendor chip specification.
  • Successful candidate should be very comfortable stepping through code with a debugger and being able to determine focus of action.
  • Knowledge of Software Quality Control Processes and Documentation desirable.
  • Familiarity with FlexRay, AUTOSAR is desirable.
