Description:

  • Develop websites and Internet applications.
  • Use Web development technologies such as HTML, Perl, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Perform various coding and programming tasks, such as design or development of Web front-end, back-end Web-based applications, and Web/Internet services.
  • May involve coding and integration of text, graphics, sound, and/or video.
  • Career-Development position within field.
  • Requires moderate skill sets and developing proficiency within discipline.
  • Conducts tasks and assignments as directed.
  • Works under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Reporting to the Sr. Manager of IT Security Risk Management, participate in the development of a security risk measurement and reporting platform, including developing new web content utilizing multiple frameworks, enhancing existing content, and developing and maintaining scripts and utilities for data collection, parsing, and presentation.
  • Daily activities will be primarily (~90%) focused on developing web content, with the remainder of the activities focused on maintaining data files and documentation.
  • Utilize web development frameworks and methodologies to build enterprise tools for measuring and reporting security risk
  • Develop and maintain project documentation to capture platform inputs, processes, dependencies, and outputs
  • Participate in the design of data file formats to support visualization components, and create, update, and maintain application data files as needed
  • Report weekly to United's IT Security Risk Management team on project status
Required Experience and Skills

- Web application development in HTML, CSS, and Javascript

- jQuery Javascript library

- D3 Javascript library

- Chart.js Javascript library

- Bootstrap web development framework

- Understanding of JSON data format

- Understanding of Model-View-Controller (MVC) software development pattern

- Ability to interpret application/feature requirements to implement appropriate solutions

- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint


- Excellent organizational and time management skills

- Attention to detail and accuracy

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and a with focus on delivering quality results

Desired Skills

- Perl programming

- General IT background in systems and applications

- Looking for candidates with D3 experience with the understanding it might be difficult. They don't need to be an expert, but must have had exposure to it, as well as have the capacity to learn along the way to navigate the D3 visualizations.

- There is a lot of opportunity for creativity in this role and to work with the manager and his team to build out frontend platforms.


- Frontend development is the primary requirement as the team has a couple of employees working on the backend, not to say that there isn't an opportunity to assist with backend as well.

- Please note that Perl programming (desired skill) is not needed for frontend, but is a plus if they move into backend development.

- Manager will conduct F2F interviews.
