Junior QA Test Engineer

job summary:
With general direction, the Junior QA Test Engineer is responsible for the testing of systems and applications in order to support installation of a quality product.

This includes analysis of client and product system requirements, including System Requirements Analysis, System Design Specifications & enhancement requests.

Testing is focused on ensuring that projects and products meet system quality standards by planning, designing and executing the appropriate system test cases, front-line triage of issues found during execution, and retesting of defects through resolution.

QA Test Engineers are typically assigned to multiple projects, ranging from simple to moderate complexity, or to a single project of high complexity

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

- Review and analyze client-specific system requirements

- Analyze functional and technical system design for testability

- Collaborate with project team resources to understand and prioritize system testing efforts

- Provide input to system test strategies

- Define system test scenarios, create system test plans and participate in the definition and execution of manual and/or automated system test scripts

- Create system test data and system test cases for multiple or complex projects

- Execute system test scripts, including the comparison of actual results to expected results

- Define system regression tests for future projects and for ongoing regression efforts

- Identify defects in multiple environments and throughout all phases of the development life cycle and ensure that development groups address all open defects in a timely manner

- Support production verification and validation

- Work in conjunction with all functional groups to identify potential future improvements to the overall process, requirements gathering and documentation or test templates Minimum Requirements (education and work experience):

- AD or BS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to multi-task, effective time-management skills.

- Strong technical skills - any hands-on experience with .net, Microsoft 365 products, and/or basic networking is preferred

- Strong attention to detail demonstrated by ability to follow and develop specific, outlined and detailed procedures

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to maintain good working relationships with internal and external partners

- Resourcefulness - ability to search and find answers rather than waiting to be given answers

- Execute and report unexpected results for exploratory testing

- Must be able to act as a team player as well as work independently

- Experience with Client Server, RDMS Database (Oracle, Sql server, etc), and Web applications is a plus
