Sr. Performance Engineer

job summary:
Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for clinical workflow platforms- all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

The candidate will work within clinical Surveillance Performance Engineering Team to support development of new platforms, features, and algorithms. Regular activities will involve the design and execution of experiments/tests driven from Windows VM hosts to characterize clinical workflow performance, unit and system wide capacity analysis, and storage array and infrastructure performance throughout the development cycle. Beyond data production and performance testing the candidate will be responsible for detailed analysis of results and communication of their findings to a variety of internal customers including developers, engineering and product leadership. Responsibilities will also include generation of limited-scope whitepapers for use as field reference. This position requires exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze complex datasets.

  • Work independently in a complex lab environment including management of Linux (virtual and bare metal) and UNIX and MS Windows host configuration and device layers
  • Leadership capability in execution of complex initiatives
  • Design and execute focused performance lab experiments and performance tests in a scientific manner
  • Participate in discussions surrounding improvements to current design and design algorithms
  • Strong communication skills with other members of performance engineering, developers product management personnel

  • Load Test Generation tools experience with SilkPerformer
  • Experience code profiling and using tools such as Dynatrace
  • Web Application protocols experience such as; SSH/TLS, HTTPS and TCP/IP
  • Oracle or other RDBMS tuning and optimization experience
  • Familiarity with standard web application languages such as Java, JavaScript (Ajax), CSS and jQuery

  • 6 years of experience in health care or life sciences industries or equivalent

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, computer or electrical engineering or related engineering major
skills: Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in concepts of computing and resource utilization for capacity planning and optimization
  • Effective ability in data analysis and test data development/generation
  • Strong / demonstrated performance test development and execution skills and experience
  • Strong mathematical foundation
  • Experience in scripting and programming (Java, C, Perl, Python, WMI, VB, shell script, BDL etc)
  • Experience in virtualized environments and automation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • General knowledge and application of engineering concepts
  • Well organized with strong work ethic
  • Detail oriented
