Title: Mid-Level Python Developer

Location: Austin, TX 78750

Duration: 6 + month contract with possible extensions





The ideal candidate will be strong in python, and have an understanding of UI (HTML, CSS and Javascript) as well as an understanding of SQL. Ideally they will also have experience with API interfaces. They will be writing "product extensions" that allow our clients to provide a micro-service to their end users through our platform.

Small workflows like enrolling, updating Profile/Address that interacts with the Clients Core through a documented interface. In order to deliver these workflows, the candidate will utilize a custom Python framework in which they write "steps" to interact with third parties through APIs, through our core product through APIs or to our database through stored procedures (some already written, some custom per project). The end user typically interacts through an HTML interface with stylesheets and some interactive javascripting of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

  • Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
  • Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
  • Implementation of security and data protection
  • Integration of data storage solutions
 
qualifications:
  • 7+ years python experience
  • Expert in Python, with knowledge of at least one Python web framework {{such as Django, Flask, etc depending on your technology stack}}
  • Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries
  • Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture
  • Good understanding of server-side templating languages {{such as Jinja 2, Mako, etc depending on your technology stack}}
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Understanding of accessibility and security compliance {{depending on the specific project}}
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python
  • Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
  • Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Strong unit test and debugging skills
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, Mercurial or SVN}}
  • These individuals would have the similar job responsibilities as current team, but with the addition of the SDK. This will include Python 3.7 use. Note: This technology will help decrease ramp up time frame. Q2 will not be training new folks on the Wedge moving forward.
  • Skills that will help include Tornado and have worked with SDKs.
