job summary:
A client of ours in San Antonio, Texas is looking for a Network Engineer for a 6 month contract to hire opportunity. Qualified candidates will have the following qualifications:

Summary:

Be responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining client computing environments for all mobile and network attached devices. The position requires expertise in installing, setup, configuring, deploying, HW/SW refresh, upgrading, trouble shooting, and maintenance of any systems (Windows desktops, Windows laptops, Windows Servers, printers, scanners, Network Routers, Network Switches and peripherals) in a PC/LAN/WAN environment and/or between multiple local area networks in a WAN environment, and assists with researching and testing new hardware and software products. The position will work closely with other support departments

  • Install, support and maintain window servers both hardware and software infrastructure
  • Install, support and maintain various network switches and router hardware
  • Monitoring network usage and utilization
  • Ensure the most cost-effective and efficient use of network routing protocol such as IGRP, EIGRP, BGP, & OSPF
  • Ensure that all IT equipment complies with industry security standards
  • Help to analyze and resolve network faults relating to network routing issues
  • Work closely with other departments or organizations and collaborate with other IT staff
  • Install support and maintain network technologies such as DNS, DHCP, and WINS
  • Managing email, anti-spam and virus protection
  • Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems
  • Analyzing and resolving faults, ranging from a major network system crashes to routing issues
  • Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet
  • Planning and implementing future IT developments and undertaking project work
  • Requires extended periods of time working on Network systems and computer systems from a desk as well as visits to end user work locations. Physical labor is also sometimes required to move and setup PCs, printers, network routers, network switches and computer systems. Running network cabling is also sometimes required
Requirements:

  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer/Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator/Solutions Associate (MCSA)
  • CCNA
  • 7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in a Large-scale Network environment
  • High level understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Cisco IOS support
  • Proficiency with networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, LANs, MANS, WANS, WINS, etc.)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Cisco IOS support in an environment that includes Windows, Solaris, Blade Servers, ESX and Hyper-V virtual machines and enterprise SAN Storage
  • Experience supporting IGRP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, and VPNs
  • Experienced with Microsoft windows architecture and desktop products
