Application Packaging/Endpoint Engineer

job summary:
The Application Packaging/Endpoint Engineer will support a team of other endpoint engineers to manage application configuration, packaging and deployment by utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). The primary responsibilities will include identifying requirements, developing application packages, documenting and distributing the packaged applications across the environment. Additional responsibilities may include developing processes and procedures around the endpoint management practice such as MSI standards, software distribution, user profile management, operating system deployment, group policy and patching for both applications and workstation operating systems.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with Microsoft SCCM infrastructure, design, implementation and support
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with managing Microsoft workstation operating systems in an enterprise environment including patching, deployment and migrations: WSUS, USMT, MDT
  • Experience with automating the deployment and management of software products in a large enterprise environment (5,000 or more desktops).
  • Expert level understanding of Windows Installer (MSI) application packaging technologies and tools with the ability to package and repackage complex enterprise applications
  • Experience with automation and scripting languages including but not limited to PowerShell, vbScript and Windows Batch
  • Working knowledge of desktop operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
  • Ability to follow proven methodologies including gathering requirements, analyzing, designing, documenting, building, testing and deploying technology solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment accepting and providing peer review
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while at the same time taking initiative, setting and managing priorities and following through to ensure task completion
  • Ability to stay organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • History of exceptional customer service and problem solving skills including high level of patience and problem management techniques used to resolve issues
  • Demonstrated experience with recognizing and reacting to situations with a sense of urgency and problem ownership with a focus on customer service

  • Must have expert knowledge and commensurate experience with standard application packaging, repackaging processes and workflow
  • Must have expert knowledge of MSI packaging/repackaging best practices and standards
  • Must have an understanding of software deployment technologies preferably leveraging Microsoft SCCM
  • Experience in enterprise environments with at least 5,000 desktops

Scripting knowledge:
