job summary:
We have a 6 month contract opportunity for a PeopleSoft Admin/Oracle DBA in Oakland, CA.

Job Description:

Involves planning databases, including schema definition, structure,

documentation, long-range requirements, data security, operational

guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in

master files and various support tools. May establish database

management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for

database deliverables. This does not include technologies that are typically

deemed as desktop-centric (i.e., Access, Filemaker Pro, etc.).

Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and

recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires

analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure.

May manage programs that include formulating strategies and

administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high

degree of autonomy.

Applies advanced database administration concepts and campus / medical

center / OP, institutional and / or multi-institutional objectives to resolve

highly complex issues of diverse scope where incumbent must assess

business needs and technical considerations with minimal direction in

order to complete database projects of advanced scope and complexity.

Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results.

Implements database solutions from evaluation to implementation of large

enterprise level hardware and software.

responsibilities:
Job Duties including but not limited to:

-Subject matter expert on Oracle RDBMS and

PeopleSoft application. Cross-trains with other

database administrators to provide depth of

support for multiple RDBMS platforms. Flexible in

supporting RDBMS out of subject matter scope.

Independently manage PeopleSoft and Database

systems for UCPath and recommendations for

tuning and upgrades for the UC Path Project

through:

-Participation in Infrastructure Design,

Architectural Design, Provisioning Release

Design, and Network Design sessions (capacity

recommendations) for connectivity between Cloud

and Customer's premises;

-Participation in discussions with Vendors and

Partners for new installations, upgrades, patches

and the documentation of procedures as needed;

-Performance of complex network integration

tasks and interoperability assessments for

interconnected servers or components of clusters

for communication, as needed.

-Specify, write and execute highly complex

software and scripts such as UNIX shell scripts,

PL/SQL and Python scripts to support systems

management, perform log analysis and other

system administration duties such as installing,

configuring and maintaining company systems along

with recommending architectural solutions.

-Provides routine and emergency 24x7 production

support as part of a rotation. Works nights and

weekends as needed to resolve issues, implement

changes and conduct necessary maintenance.

Perform root cause analysis and help with

problem management process for

incidents.
