Qualified candidates should have 5+ years of network design, implementation, and creating best practices experience within a lab environment and has experience with decommission aftermath and assets evaluation. Ideal candidate is experienced with setting up a lab environment once IT operations are being brought back in house and is skilled across wide range of telecommunication technologies and services including; LAN, WAN, Security, wireless, remote access, load balancing, and cloud connectivity. The candidates must also exhibit strong professional skills including communications, self-motivated, adaptable and dependable.

Job Purpose

Build Lab proof on concepts, create engagement processes, flow of equipment and implement best practices in setting up a Lab environment after a vendor decommission, through providing top-level technical expertise and support to engineering departmental users. Own the day to day operations of the development & responsible for implementing & maintaining Lab best practices in keeping with company / industry standards and work with the local facilities teams to make this happen.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Establish processes & procedures for users of the lab environment to maximize the efficient turnover of infrastructure for internal use.
  • Ensure that the lab infrastructure setup & inventory is properly managed and maintained, develop metrics for measurement of uptime and usage of equipment, where necessary develop processes & procedures to drive efficiencies in this matter.
  • Work closely with the Commercial teams to plan & budget for the growing and future needs of the business.
  • Specializes in network build and design solutions based on capabilities and current/future lab infrastructure.
  • Plan, budget, and execute on material purchasing required to support labs.
  • Create investment business cases based on business needs and present them to leadership.
  • Develop Bill of Material for new projects/programs with the help of core engineering.
  • Lead/develop department level, complex process initiatives and/or business strategy.
  • Brainstorms potential projects; identifies opportunities for improvement and begins the communication process with team members and management.
  • Knows where to get information to complete analyses; integrates available data into a logical and coherent structure for analysis; isolates the problem.
  • Identifies risks (New, Unique, Different and Difficult) and develops mitigation plans.
  • Be prepared to support the business in doing hands on testing of Storage technology & contributing to the optimization of operations.
  • Help design and build lab space, tools and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the interactions between labs and engineering.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems by applying knowledge and skills, escalating design, manufacturing and product test issues to other people within the organization when appropriate.
  • Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience with a proven track record in managing a lab environment.
  • 5+ year background in hardware solution design and build, network design and build, and Lab/data center architecture.
  • Ensures that designs and operational processes are optimized; able to identify, prioritize, and influence absolute requirements.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent degree.
  • Preferred experience in Storage environment and test process automation.

Technical Competencies and Experience

  • Working knowledge of network features and protocols such as spanning tree, TCP/IP V4/V6, SIP, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, MLS, HSRP, GLBP, VSS/VSL, QoS, Multicast, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, NTP, and HTTP
