Scrum Master

job summary:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following attributes in three areas of team fit, agile/scrum practices and development practices.

Team/Fit Personality

- Promotes and demonstrates open communication and transparency

- Executive presence

- Ability to balance between a laid back/impersonal leadership style with knowing when to be direct/formal

- Focus on personal development in the agile community and help bring new ideas into the team

Agile Practices/Scrum

- Understands agile and Professional Scrum

- Familiar with Scrum values and adopts them as personal values

- Ability to visualize and see deficits with agile practices

- Steer the team in continuous improvement areas

- Can coach the team in agile/Scrum as well as ability to coach individuals (i.e. Product Owner)

Development Practices

- Familiar with technology and development practices (Mobile development experience is a plus)

- Will advocate team practices such as pair programming, test driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery

- Help spread the value of these development practices outside the team to help the overall AEP organization

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Guide the team and organization on Scrum practices

2. Build a culture of trust, respect, simplicity, courage, transparency and agility

3. Guides and supports the planning and coordination of deployment and releases

4. Participates and helps facilitate Sprint events (i.e. Review, Retrospectives)

5. Radiate helpful information to the team and stakeholders through visual management

6. Maintain a consistent cadence to enable to the team to experience and provide predictability velocity

7. Identify and clear any impediments the team may have with the delivery of new features or meeting sprint goals

8. Effectively communicate to the product owner, development team and stakeholders at all levels of the organization

9. Forecast team budget burn and project budget spend

10. Identify and manage project, product and team risks

Preferred Requirements:

* Previous project management experience in addition to the roles & responsibilities of a Scrum Master

* Scrum Master Certification

* Experience in agile coaching with organization implementing Professional Scrum

Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, OR Associates degree with 2 years of related technical/project management experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of related business or technical/project management experience.

Experience: Minimum of 4 to 6 years (in addition to any educational experience in lieu of degree as identified above) IT and Business experience including work in one or more of these areas: project management, Agile Framework, major construction, or engineering.

Certification: Certification or degree aligned with project management discipline. (i.e. PMP or Scrum Certification)
