job summary:
Job Description:

Technical position that supports infrastructure and application team environments. Provides implementation and support, builds new databases as necessary, maintains existing databases and troubleshoots system defects and problems. Supports multiple distributed environments to monitor the systems for recoverability, efficiency, reliability, availability and data integrity. Maintains a familiarity with new and currently installed releases in order to provide support and direction on the effective use and continued growth of the systems.

responsibilities:
Required Skills:

  • Works with internal and external teams to service requests and incidents
  • Performs tuning and optimization of the instance and databases
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves database related issues including performance, availability, storage, data integrity and database security
  • Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Has knowledge of Always On Availability Group and Failover Cluster implementation and operation
  • Versed in T-SQL
  • Familiar with new features in SQL Server 2016/2017
  • Experience with SQL Server in Azure desired
  • Assists with database backup and recovery
  • Resolves client connectivity issues
  • Manages database access and user security rights; works to implement security best practices
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016
  • Creates documentation on support policies and procedures, as needed
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Committed to exceptional customer service
  • Clinical environment experience is preferred
  • Database administrator experience as typically acquired in 3 to 5 years
