Description:

  • Responsibilities include perform activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Oracle databases supporting high Tier level environments, critical for the organization.
  • Handle installations, upgrades, RMAN backups, and configuration.
  • Confer with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of Oracle databases.
  • May do limited amount of design and programming.
  • Career-Development position within field.
  • Requires moderate skill sets and developing proficiency within discipline.
  • Works well alone and in large groups.
  • Job requires participation in 24x7 on-call rotations for production-support for Oracle environments in HPUX, AIX, Solaris, Linux and Windows.
  • Work with Application, Production Support, UNIX, NetBackup and many other teams on supporting and implementing application changes, database enhancements, and database production support including incident resolution, problem and change management control supporting PCI, SOX and PII data;
  • extensive troubleshooting, Oracle quarterly patch installs, Oracle upgrades, running data-pump exports/imports to refresh data, backups and restores to refresh into non-production environments, working with distributed transactions via database links, support during 24X7 during O/S monthly maintenance outages, and running daily data-fixes among many others, etc.
Key Qualifications - Must Haves

BS Computer Science or Equivalent degree

DBA with 7 to 10 years- experience as an Oracle 11g, 12c production DBA on UNIX and Windows in a 24*7 rotation

3+ years' experience with configuring and managing Data Guard databases in 11g or 12c and experience with GG is a plus

3+ years in SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning

5+ years in UNIX Shell scripting

In depth knowledge of Oracle databases

Extensive experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting - drill down approach with O/S, database and application

Database backup and restore

Pro-active database management

Knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel

Oracle RAC

Others:

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Preferred

Oracle Container DB a plus

Be a team player and works well with large teams

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills is a must

This is a contractor to hire position. Plan to convert after 6 month of contract.
