DevOps Engineer

One of our Austin clients is seeking a DevOps Engineer to work in a team environment that will build, automate, and monitor the infrastructure platform for supporting services.

responsibilities:
Responsibilities

  • Responsible for deployment, configuration, optimization and maintenance of infrastructure systems
  • Work closely with development teams to provide system engineering support, ensure production readiness, and solve systems problems within a complex environment
  • Scope, plan, and execute utilizing Agile methodology and JIRA/Confluence tools
  • Participates in code reviews and an agile development process
  • Designs and develops additional tools to improve development workflow
  • Assists the build team in optimizing and improving build systems
  • Develop scripts that support automation, innovation, and security initiatives to ensure a continuous delivery process.
  • Diagnose complex systems issues with multiple influencing factors
  • Create and review documentation and processes related to recurring issues, new procedures, and knowledge transfer
  • Work closely with the development team on upcoming features
  • Assist the support team with escalated customer issues
  • Incident response to system alerts during local day hours including potential evening and weekend incident response
 
qualifications:
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field from an accredited four-year university required.
  • Experience with production application systems monitoring, performance optimization, root cause analysis, and advanced troubleshooting
  • 6+ years of experience working in a web development and/or operations role and in Linux and Windows System Administration
  • 4+ years of experience scripting with Bash, Python, or PowerShell
  • 4+ years of experience setting up and monitoring uptime and performance management tools (New Relic, AppDynamics, Pingdom)
  • 3+ years of experience working in a cloud hosting environment (AWS, Rackspace, Azure, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience managing databases SQL and/or NOSQL (i.e. Postgres, Mongo, MS SQL)
  • 3+ years working experience of messaging services like RabbitMQ and persistence solutions at local and cloud.
  • Experience with Continuous Development/Deployment/Integration design and best practices
  • Experience managing and working with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Salt Stack, Ansible, SCCM)
  • Experience with search engines (i.e. Splunk, Elastic Search, LogRythm)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced with managing with SaaS based vendors a plus
  • Experience in TeamCity, Jenkins, or Octopus
  • Experienced with Atlassian JIRA as an Agile development management tool
  • Knowledge of cyber-security best practices
  • Experience with API management a plus
