Windows Security and Patch Management Analyst

The Windows Security and Patch Management Analyst will perform data analysis, risk assessment, desktop patch management and compliance process improvement for security of enterprise Microsoft Windows Platforms (Windows 7 and Windows 10).

  • Risk Assessment - Working with data and interfacing with subject matter experts (SMEs), analyze security risks in order to identify and eliminate Windows desktop hardware and software vulnerabilities.
  • Patch Management - Prioritize, plan, schedule, test and execute the distribution of Windows related patches.
  • Security Governance and Compliance - Develop, maintain and publish Windows client related security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines based on compliance requirements and organizational goals.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business and IT partners to manage security vulnerabilities.
  • Security patches management and administration for Windows clients.
  • Conduct research and keep abreast of latest security issues.
  • Perform risk assessment and data analysis for security compliance.
  • Review and update written security policies that revolve around client technologies.
  • Develop and approve security processes and solutions around ensuring compliance.
  • Identify emerging security risks and prioritize into high, medium, and low status.
  • Act as primary liaison for Microsoft Windows Platforms (Vista, Windows 7), MS Office, and Internet Explorer security issues.
  • Communicate with clients and leadership to provide updates on security initiatives.
  • Provide advice and counsel concerning IT security best practices and methodologies.
  • Work individually or with cross-functional teams on small to mid-size projects.
  • Work with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) to resolve security issues.
  • Perform other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:

The ideal candidate will be process and detail oriented with strong organizational skills. The candidate should also be knowledgeable of the areas in which the client technology interacts within an enterprise environment (networks/applications/servers), so that they can easily interact with other departments within IT when discussing security solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a security role as process and compliance specialist.
  • Patch management for Windows 7/Windows 10 client software-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Dedicated to regulatory compliance and process-centric goals and objectives.
  • Ability to interface with IT subject matter experts in server, networking, and security
  • This candidate should be self-sufficient with practical desktop security experience in securing Windows platform computing environment.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and security trend reporting knowledge are required for this position.
  • High level of familiarity with risk assessment for remediating security vulnerabilities.
  • Experience securing Microsoft Vista / Windows 7 OS environment.
  • Desktop security reporting experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Recent Microsoft Certification, such as MCTS, MCITP, MCSA, or MCSE Solutions Expert designations for Windows Desktop Windows 7/Windows 10 Infrastructure.
  • McAfee Agent, Host Intrusion Prevention, and Virus Scan Enterprise experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows scripting and Microsoft SCCM patch administration.
  • Windows Active Directory Group Policy administration.

  • Experience with Scrum Methodology
