Database Integration Developer

job summary:
Project Snapshot The ultimate goal of the project is to convert our tables from XML tables to Relational. The focus is to address the tables that have the most complexity and volume, and provide the biggest challenge to maintain in production. This work effort will include working with architects, developers and other team members in : - Reviewing and validating the proposed relational DB model - Standing up new relational tables - Migration of existing data to the new table - Updating application UI and Batch processes to use new tables, delete the old ones. - Ensuring system performance and availability are not compromised

responsibilities:
Involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of software applications. Determines user requirements, leads application design, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness. May coordinate with other managers to integrate project with other applications. Position may be a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for people management. Disciplines: Mainframe Platform, Mid-Range Platform, Windows Desktop Platform, Windows Server Platform, UNIX Client/Server Platform, Internet/Intranet (Web) Platform, E-commerce/EDI, Multi-Platform.

 
qualifications:
Skills needed:

  • DB Skills: Performs Data analysis of XML data structures, Data modeling, understanding index usage and configuration, the best way to leverage Oracle tools.
  • Java: Requires Java experience with DB integration to support updates to Data Objects and batch. Should have good SQL skills. Specifically, our project work may require recoding of the DAO layer, which will require some thought, such as efficient ways to return the data etc.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at least eight, typically ten or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
