job summary:
Our client is in need of a IT Director TMS Applications. They will provide leadership and direction for the technical support of our client's suite of TMS applications - MercuryGate, Descartes OneView and new custom parcel solution. This includes the management and growth of support staff for both system configuration and data loading. Developing internal and external customer solutions that support the company's growth plans. Working with external third-party software vendors to deliver TMS enhancements as well as on-going support. Maintain and enhance configuration, testing and deployment of software releases, ensuring all releases are deployed to production with no issues. All this accomplished in leading projects and other team resources to accomplish the strategic goals of the organization.

  • Manage and develop configuration and data loading personnel to improve the delivery of support required to meet company objectives
  • Continuously improve team processes to support high quality customer implementation, release management, and daily end user support

    • Ability to understand customers' business needs and lead team to provide timely solutions that meet project plan deliverables
    • Ability to lead team to perform gap analysis/develop business requirements for TMS enhancements
    • Support system software upgrades through leading a team to perform functional and regression testing
    • Lead team to provide timely assistance to internal or external users in resolving system functional and performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with 3 rd party software vendors (e.g. MercuryGate, Descartes, etc.) in order to support and make enhancements necessary to meet evolving business needs
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other functional areas and departments with Mode to understand evolving business needs and deliver results
  • Manage on-call rotation for after-hours support coverage
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' experience in logistics or transportation industry
  • 5+ years' work experience with the MercuryGate TMS and other TMS systems
  • 5+ years' leading a team of individuals in a technical support capacity
  • Leadership skills - ability to lead others to new solutions, resolving issues and implementing projects
  • Proven ability to manage and develop employees
  • Ability to work and present directly to customers by providing solutions to solve their business needs
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • People skills - the ability to establish effective working relationships across multiple groups (support groups, internal customers, external customers, external vendors)
  • Communication skills - excellent oral and written communications
  • Excellent organizational skills - ability to handle multiple tasks/meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
