Sr SQL DBA

job summary:
We're taking database administration to the next level with automation and better configuration management. Be a part of the new team that is making this happen. We have a fairly even mix of ORACLE and MSSQL installations across multiple environments.

Responsibilities:

  • The SQL DBA is responsible for understanding the requirements of the business units and supporting the project and support teams by implementing technical systems based on those requirements.
  • In support of that responsibility, the SQL DBA will work with the project and support teams, as necessary, to ensure the technical solutions meet the business needs, and are developed and implemented with high quality.
  • We are seeking a SQL Server database administrator with a good mix of technical and interpersonal skills because our role is client-facing.
  • Performance tuning individual SQL queries, database applications, and optimizing databases.
Requirements:

  • Experience as a Microsoft SQL DBA contractor or consultant
  • SQL SSIS/SSRS experience
  • Understanding of database and index maintenance and design
  • Experience with SQL Server HA and DR (especially AlwaysOn)
  • Fundamental T-SQL coding and queries
  • SQL Server Security
  • Troubleshooting (issue diagnosis and resolution)
  • Process automation and scheduling via SQL Server Agent
  • Working knowledge of software development and maintenance process and tools
  • Good communication / customer service skills
  • Ability to understand others and clearly express thoughts
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality deliverables
Preferred:

  • Good communication (oral and written)
  • Service oriented attitude
  • Able to work well with others, whether technical or non-technical
  • Diligent, thorough, focused, detail oriented
