  • Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules, develops solutions to program problems, and directs work of incumbents assigned to program from various departments.

  • Acts as advisor to program team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Typically reports to a unit/department head.
KEY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • 40% - Lead and manage projects as assigned, both tactical and strategic
  • 40% - Deliver high quality artifacts and outcome through all phases of PMLC including Envision, Design, Build, and Activate as needed to realize measurable business results
  • 10% - Coach, guide, train project team members and other PMs on EDBA, PMLC and related artifacts and deliverables
  • 10% - Assist team members and research operational and performance data to provide statistics, trends, and reporting that inform leadership steering and decision-making, and as assigned
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Undergraduate degree in business, technical, or aviation related discipline required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Project Management (PMI) Certification (Preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Experience managing multiple large, complex projects across multiple functions
  • Experience managing and mentoring project management staff
  • Proven expertise successfully managing business and technical resources under an integrated project plan to ensure the alignment of resources
  • Experience presenting, escalating, and providing solutions to senior leadership
  • Demonstrated experience delivering measurable business benefit through project execution
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating, delegating and motivating cross functional groups or activities
  • Exposure with change management/facilitation, enterprise communication and training
  • Highly organized, and the ability to multi-task competing priorities
  • Provide leadership, guidance, influence and mentoring for project teams
  • Experience with process/system mapping and analysis

EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years work experience
  • 5+ years managing projects
  • Demonstrated successful project delivery using fundamentals of PMBOK practices/methodologies
  • Demonstrated successful execution using SDLC, PMLC, DMAIC or DFSS methodology
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Has discretion in making tactical decisions; provides input on strategic decisions to management as required. Decisions and achievement of results could have a significant impact on the group's overall performance. Effects could be long-lasting; expected to be creative to develop high-impact changes in processes or strategies.
**ADDITIONAL NOTES FROM THE HIRING MANAGER**

  • PM with exposure to aviation is strongly preferred.
  • Previous maintenance project experience (to be able to pick up the basics) is a plus.
  • Intention is that they can understand the nature of issues that come up, business readiness challenges, etc. with a group that moves fast and is not accustomed to onboarding new people.
  • Position is located in Houston - successful candidate will facilitate the communication flow up to Chicago, knowing that the vast majority of activity is in Houston.
  • Agile technology project experience is preferred. (If they have previous experience as a Scrum Master, even better.)
  • Moving into Phase 2 of mobility project for Tech Ops that deployed iPads to frontline maintenance technicians. Program has gone into standard operating processes, and this person will be the eyes and ears in Houston to coordinate program management with IT teams.
  • Project is less complex than others. Manager is open to those who have managed project budgets of $0.5M - $2M.
  • Project has a politically-charged component, so they need to be self-aware and know when to push or when not to.
  • Must have experience with MS Project and SharePoint.
  • 10% travel at the most - Chicago team would also travel to Houston.
  • Please focus on candidates that will not require sponsorship if converted to a FTE.
  • Manager will complete phone screens, followed by onsite interviews.
