Network Engineer

job summary:
The Network Engineer manages the implementation, maintenance and performance of servers, desktops, network applications and backup services for each office location; including testing, debugging, installing and maintaining. This position will have hands-on responsibility and work closely with the team lead.

  • Administers, maintains, develops and implements procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company's work product and compliance;
  • Lead in projects assigned, including development and growth of our server and desktop applications and offerings;
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, and support of server operating systems, desktop configurations, network applications, server applications, and desktop applications;
  • Troubleshoot network applications and hardware and coordinate solutions to team lead;
  • Provides documentation/project tracking/resolution tracking;
  • Subject matter expert in specific applications and network technology and application solutions, providing consultation to IT leadership and team technical leadership;
  • Analyze/resolve problems with server hardware, OS and desktop or remote applications software;
  • Handles troubleshooting for backend application software features;
  • Manage implementation of components required for complex application features;
  • Manage client service relationships for deployment and ongoing company support applications.
Individual must have proven advanced knowledge of Microsoft internetworking technologies including current Microsoft Windows Products, Exchange, file and print services, DNS and DHCP. Other required experience includes server management and support of remote desktop, voice, mobility, data replication, back-up technologies, and legal specific technologies. Additionally, position requires in-depth knowledge of network operating systems, servers, and physical network components(hardware). Familiarity with a majority of the following: Microsoft Windows Server, Internet Information Server(IIS), Active Directory / LDAP, Microsoft System Center configuration and Operation Manager, and a solid understanding of Microsoft desktop applications. Candidate must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, and desktop interaction with the network. Minimum five years' experience in a large Microsoft environment.


College degree strongly preferred with a B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree or equivalent education and work experience or certification.

skills: A. (Desktop Engineer Related Duties)

  • Provide technical support to team members;
  • Fix reports of problems; close tickets; provide feedback;
  • Document, track, and monitor problems and design resolutions using centrally managed solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software issues, for end users. Analyze and manage desktop security updated and patches.
  • Work on assigned projects and provide status updates to team leads to meet deadlines.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management as needed or assigned.
B. (Server Services Related Duties)

  • Working with team lead on Windows enterprise server experience 2008 and above.
  • Provide backup support of the company's Microsoft Exchange environment and other email related services such as ProofPoint.
  • Support application teams for technology builds from hardware to software installation.
  • Work with team lead to develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
  • Work with engineering team lead to build solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Work on assigned projects and provide status updates to team leads to meet deadlines.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management as needed or assigned.
