System Engineer

job summary:
We are looking for an Atlassian Developer to increase the impact and stability of our internal tools with a current focus on (self-hosted) Jira Software, Jira Service Desk and Confluence. In addition, this position will be responsible for operational maintenance, troubleshooting and support of applicable backend systems.

What You'll Do

-You will maintain enterprise application reliability by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health to purposefully mitigate risks and downtime

-You will quickly triage, solve problems and resolve build and technical issues as they arise, both frontend and backend

-Provide and communicate accurate timelines and status updates, particularly for incidents and planned upgrades and outages

-Determine ways to optimize and improve Jira performance, particularly where we may need to re-think or re-engineer our solutions

-Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements for new functionality or modifications to existing solutions, based on business value

Drive the adoption of lifecycle management procedures, maintaining our cloud-hosted infrastructure (GCP) and providing policy and workflow recommendations that will ensure the stability and scalability of our tools

Who You Are

-You have an understanding of JIRA implementation, configuration and optimization, including PostgreSQL configuration

-You have experience with scripting and using REST APIs for integrations with 3rd party apps

-You have experience in one or more of these languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Javascript and/or jQuery, ideally for enterprise-quality software

-You have experience with GIT (understanding of GITHub PR flow), deployment and orchestration technologies, such as Puppet, Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes

-You have experience with building/managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, CircleCI or other CI/CD systems

-You have a deep understanding of modern development practices and the development lifecycle with experience using Scrum, Kanban, Lean or other agile methodologies

-You deeply prioritize the security of our systems and can develop a culture of enabling users and encouraging compliance with policies
