Systems Administrator

job summary:
Responsible for maintaining the computer systems, server management including installing, maintaining and upgrading the servers. Will ensure the servers are backed up, and that the server data is secure from unauthorized access. May also produce and create reports, charts, manuals proposals and perform light programming (scripting). Must be able to plan, coordinate and implement software version changes and use utility tools to monitor elements of the system, such as memory, central processing unit (CPU) and program errors generated from a system or software problem. Must also have knowledge in systems design and configuration. Strong verbal and written communication skills is required.

- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience with 3+ years providing network and systems administration

- Experience with Windows Server administration

- Experience with RHEL Server administration

- Experience supporting large scale hosted environments, including failover and disaster recovery

- Experience with PowerShell and Bash or Python

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Ability to work with geographically dispersed technical teams

- Ability to design and successfully drive implementations for systems solutions that meet complex business needs

- Demonstrated ability to work with clients and architects to understand business requirements and translate them into comprehensive technical designs

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Responsible for the implementation of configuration changes for vendor apps in lower, non-prod environments

- Create scripts for implementing and testing configuration changes.

- Contribute to architecture artifacts, working closely with the Tech Lead and Technical Directors

- Responsible for scripting, testing and certifying applications for currency updates in lower, non-prod environments

- Coordinate with external teams to resolve dependencies for the following; Firewalls, Load Balancers, Databases

- Audit, Risk & Compliance - Address Findings, Remediation Plans and Exceptions as assigned (code or configuration changes)

- Incident, Change, and Problem Management - Manage, Participate in Major Incident Reviews and complete any follow up action items, Respond to on call notifications in the event of an escalation

- Monitoring, Alerting and Dashboards - Ensure right level of logging is included for each feature/function

- Work with operations and development teams to ensure property telemetry is recorded, displayed, and monitored. AppD, Xenoss, and Splunk experience a plus.

- Release Management - Create release artifacts

- Definition of Done - Provide evidence of Definition of Done; Functional testing artifacts
