This position will play a key role within the National Health Services & Quality Improvement Analytics Team. This team consists of systematic and continuous actions that lead to measurable improvement in health care services and the health status of our customer population. We support the reporting and analytics of the Internal and External QIP / CCIP, SNP Oversight and QOC Grievance Teams, as well as the operational reporting and analytics of the External Clinical Program activity, Case Management and Behavioral Health teams.

Role Summary:

  • Focuses on the use of information and analytics to improve health and optimize consumer focused business processes.
  • Responsible for the extraction and analysis of health care information regarding network utilization and clinical quality information.
  • Evaluates, writes, and presents healthcare utilization and clinical reports and makes recommendations based on relevant findings to drive the decision-making process and support business operations for internal and external customers in an effort to control medical cost and improve the quality of services provided to members.
  • Performs research and analysis of complex healthcare and/or clinical data regarding network utilization, cost containment and quality improvement information.
  • Combines complex IT capabilities with advanced clinical knowledge to determine trends, cost/benefit ratios, and forecasting of healthcare costs, medical management, and health economics.
  • May also be responsible for designing and implementing the systems and programming to analyze and report findings.
  • This position requires a high level of expertise in both analyzing medical data and information systems.

responsibilities:
  • Work closely with matrix partners to ensure comprehensive and clear understanding of requirements for successful reporting implementation.
  • Document business/technical requirements of all reporting.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc data analysis as it relates operational trending and quality processes.
  • Work productively in an environment that requires constant development of technical data skill set: Tableau, SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Access.
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution.
  • Develops analytical strategy/methodology and identifies topics to be addressed in reporting.
  • Conducts customized research and analysis to support matrix partner's ongoing decision making process and strategies.
  • Ensures accuracy and reliability of data through ongoing research, evaluation, and reconciliation contributing to ongoing report maintenance and enhancement.
  • Perform QA/UAT functions to ensure the reporting package/analytics is accurate and ready to be used operationally within the market teams as well as Sr. Leadership teams
  • Maintain/manage existing reporting solutions and identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Drive the development of 'best practice' reporting and analysis tools aimed at standardizing reporting across the department.
  • Apply advanced technical training to informatics reporting standards and report activities.
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in health care/managed care with direct responsibility for analysis and data management with relational database concepts and reporting with strong preference for backgrounds for clinical data and utilization analysis.
  • Intermediate to expertise in the use of relational database concepts and applications, specifically use of MS Access, SQL, Excel, or Teradata.
  • Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL) procedure as a data retrieval tool. Specifically, the ability to write programs to perform queries on data and retrieve data from multiple tables/sources with SQL.
  • General knowledge and/or experience with HEDIS, QSI, CCMS and Tableau a plus.
  • Successful background managing complex data sets and strong data mining skills including the ability to perform research and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Ability to quickly understand key aspects of data and applications as they relate to business functions.
  • Ability to work independently within a team or with matrix partners with some guidance while managing multiple tasks and meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Proven experience in interpreting and translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Proven ability to effectively problem solve in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively organize/present information to various audiences.
