RF Engineer

job summary:
Our client is seeking a RF Engineer for a 6 Month Contract to Hire opportunity in Roseville, CA.

Functions:

  • Design and develop test plans and test bed topology for legacy and new features in Data communication networks which includes Layer-2, Layer-3, Data Centre protocols, Virtual Chassis, Fiber Channel and Open Flow Development and execution of automation scripts for product testing and regression tests using scripting languages.
  • Design and develop test plans and test beds based on customer specific used scenarios for testing of legacy and new features.
  • Debug and troubleshoot test failures to determine the root cause with clear understanding and articulate the issues. Open problem reports and timely track the issues with software group leading to an efficient fix.
  • Conducting manual, semi-automated, and automated tests to validate new product development, debug scripts, and troubleshoot switch problems. Assist in Technical Documentation for features tested and supported.
  • Work with the other team members to improve development processes, tools and practices to ensure they are in alignment with team priorities and industry best practices.
Personal Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate to software development, hardware and program management teams as well as interacting with customer solution engineers.
  • Independently resolve technical problems, initiating design changes and providing engineering support to assess customer needs and solve field issues.
  • Generate required product development documentation including, but not limited to, Functional Specifications and detailed design documents.
  • Participate in source code control and software release activities as required.
  • Interface with other departments to enable accomplishment of division and new product development objectives. Communicate project status, issues, and requirements both verbally and in writing.

  • Networking equipment such as Switches, Routers, Servers, Modems, etc.
  • RF Debug equipment such as Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, etc
Software

  • Development Debugging Environment (SoftwareDebuggers, Emulators, Logic Analyzers, Tools)
  • Programming Languages (JAVA, C++, C#)
  • Hyperterminals such as TeraTerm and ProComm
  • Linux/Unix/Windows
  • Virtual Machines

Qualifications

  • Understanding of those services required for CMTS operation including DHCP, TFTP, and DNS.
  • Expert understanding of LAN/WAN topology, network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS), switches, firewalls, as well as DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TFTP protocols.
  • Knowledge of legacy cable video systems and architectures.
  • BS/MS in CS/EE or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relative work experience
