Our client is a highly innovative company that collaborates across disciplines to produce cutting edge cloud technology that changes our world. The Cloud Server Infrastructure (CSI) team in Azure C+E division is responsible for delivering server infrastructure for online services.

The hardware for operating these services (over 200 and counting), comprises of hundreds of thousands of servers spread globally and applications that reach hundreds of millions of users every day.

Our customer-base is growing rapidly, our infrastructure investments are multiplying, and the size of our global infrastructure is increasing by the day - along with the scale of our challenges. Thus, we are seeking a passionate Quality engineer who can translate this passion into solving problems and challenges.

Responsibilities:

Azure Cloud Server Infrastructure (Azure-CSI) quality engineering team is responsible for defining end-to-end hardware quality requirements for server and rack Infrastructure deployed across the world.The successful candidate will be able to lead proactive product requirements definition activities throughout the entire product life-cycle (concept, planning, definition, validation, launch and sustaining) to ensure appropriate critical-to-quality design-rules and tenets are implemented to ensure we deliver high quality products and services for customers.During the development phases the Product Engineer works with a cross-functional team; including development engineering and industry partners (suppliers), using Deign for excellence (Dfx), Design of Experiments (DoE), Design failure modes effect analysis (DFMEA), statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to preempt failures and deliver high quality products to the Microsoft fleet.

  • Lead cross-functional team members to create and execute Quality plans that support product quality goals
  • Track/Manage all customer impacting field issues and ensure test cases are created and executed against
  • Ensure all development severity HW/SW defects/bugs are effectively resolved/closed before product launch
  • Deliver product Quality updates to high-level executives for each phase of the product development life cycle
  • Drive cross-functional product quality improvements by eliminating sources of defects in the design, supplier chain, new product introduction, and manufacturing processes through a robust lessons-learned and customer feedback processes
  • Document and drive previous generation Lessons-Learned into next product specification, in the form of features or product improvements
  • Drive failure analysis (FA) for all hardware part failures using Microsoft return material authorization (RMA) process, field recalls or other field quality excursions
  • Drive piece-part traceability to enable field recalls or field excursions root-cause investigation and corrective-actions
  • Drive root-cause investigations for field excursions with functional owners and actively tracked/managed to closure
  • Lead/support first-article inspection (FAI) and lead Datacenter onsite inspection program (DOSIP) activities
  • Ensure product quality goals and other performance measurements are met, per expectations prior to release to production and beyond
Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum BS level in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Materials Science Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in computer hardware development
  • Working knowledge of computer organization, architecture, and electrical, electro-mechanical components, and peripheral devices
  • Strong problem-solving skills using analytical and data-driven approach; Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly through oral and written communications; Ability to present clear and concise information to team, internal and external customers
  • DFx, DoE, FMEA, SPC, CPk, and measurement systems analysis (MSA), Six Sigma & ISO 9000
  • Computer validation & debug, Verilog
  • Software: Pyton, VB, Matlab, Java, SQL
  • SW packages: MS Office, JMP,
