Sr. Hardware Engineer

job summary:
Summary

Senior Electrical engineer is responsible for organizing and completing the electrical system design tasks to project milestones. Will define and write electrical system technical requirements for changes to existing and new products. Develop and improve Power Electronics designs for laser applications using high voltage and current control with power devices (IGBT, MOSFET, etc.). Manage activities to meet project timeline requirements; prototyping, testing and production. Communicates change order information to other functions. Work interdepartmentally to develop optimal solutions. Medical device or laser experience is not required although relevant experience is always a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the electrical development and modification of products including design and verification protocol and report creation and implementation. Documentation experience in regulated industries is a plus.
  • Responsible for the design, modification and implementation of PCBs using analog, digital & power electronics circuits for system level integration of electronic subsystems in high power medical lasers.
  • This role will work on new and existing product designs. Typically, 75% product support and 25% new design activities depending of the development cycle timing.
Qualifications

Experience


  • 5 - 8 years' experience in a system design environment is required
  • Competence designing with power, analog & digital electronics at the PCB level design is required.
  • Design and product support experience of systems, sub-assemblies and circuit boards is required.
  • Experience developing medical devices in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is preferred.
  • Hands on experience of PCB design using OrCAD Capture for schematics and Allegro PCB Editor for PCB layout, component placement, routing and guidelines. Experience with other tools will be considered.
  • Knowledge of IEC/UL standards for medical device product design including isolation design, EMC compliance and product safety.
  • Understanding of EN60601 requirements/constraints for PCB and system design
  • Experience with PLM systems (Agile/Oracle/Omnify) managing Engineering data for product release.
Skills

  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, possess strong organizational and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well with others, is thorough and demonstrates good judgment
  • Takes responsibility for projects, requirements and schedules.
  • Inspire cooperation and success among the EE team.
  • This position will interact with several departments within the organization.
