SQL/Oracle Database Team Lead

job summary:
  • ead our Database/ETL team

    • Model and facilitate intra- and inter-team collaboration to foster a culture of cooperation and teamwork, while mentoring more junior professionals
    • Serve as the voice of our database team in all departmental and enterprise projects
    • Maintain and share in-depth technical expertise vis-à-vis Oracle database products, industry trends, and best practices
  • Use your considerable skill to provide capacity to the team, in database administration, optimization, and development

    • Administer Oracle database servers that support our product lines, including installation, configuration, tuning, administration, troubleshooting, and monitoring and resolving production issues
    • Optimize our databases, performing ongoing health checks, identifying and implementing architectural changes to improve the systems' overall stability, availability, security, and performance
    • Partner with our engineering team to contribute to R&D efforts, giving extra capacity in business intelligence, ETL, and database development
  • Ensure our clients, both internal and external, have access to our best in class technology whenever and from wherever they need to

    • Assist and advise the R&D team in architecting and building scalable applications
    • Plan for rapid capacity growth
    • Manage team to ensure 24/7 coverage
Our ideal candidate is:

  • An experienced (8+ years) Oracle database professional (professional DBA experience strongly preferred), with at least some experience with Oracle 12c - experience with MongoDB, MS SQL Server, and/or ETL (e.g., Pentaho) would be a huge plus;
  • Familiar with database security concepts and controls, including access control, encryption, and auditing;
  • A hands-on leader, willing to get his/her hands dirty, with SQL coding experience;
  • Comfortable with Linux;
  • Experienced in implementing high availability and disaster recovery architectures for databases;
  • Self-directed and detail oriented, able to work in a fast paced environment with limited administrative support or hand holding;
  • Highly collaborative, prioritizing collaboration over credit, and interested in building strong relationships with peers across corporate functions;
  • A world class problem solver who also has phenomenal communication and collaboration skills;
  • Intellectually curious, with a passion for learning and a demonstrated commitment to continuous growth; and
