Senior Systems Engineer

Our client has a 6+ month contract opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in Sacramento, CA.

This role will be creating solutions documentation for system builds. Must have exposure to an environment that adheres to TOGAF standards since our client uses them.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for advanced level administration, support and design. The scope of responsibility includes software and hardware installation, maintenance, project coordination, performance control and complex system design for credit union technology systems.

This job requires extensive knowledge and experience dealing with implementation and issue resolution of Microsoft server platforms and desktop technologies from versions 2008 to current (standard to enterprise), clustered and non-clustered systems, Veritas Net Backup, Linux Red Hat, VMware ESXi servers, Citrix XenApp, and storage platforms including enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies, VMware ESX servers, Microsoft server platforms from versions 2008 to current (standard to enterprise), clustered and non-clustered systems, Linux Red Hat and other current versions of Unix systems, and Citrix XenApp Presentation Server.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

1. Administration and maintenance of server hardware

2. Administration and maintenance of Windows, VMWare ESXi, Citrix, and Linux operating systems including scripting

1. and debugging

2. Detect, diagnose and resolve system issues arising within the system architecture including server hardware,

3. storage hardware, Windows, VMWare ESXi, vCenter, Citrix XenApp Presentation Server, Linux Red Hat operating systems, as well as commercial off the shelf and vendor applications.

4. Provides mentorship and direction through technical subject matter expertise to staff responsible for integration of software and hardware applications.

5. Plan for the future use of Systems hardware and software, services, technologies, applications, and standards and coordinates the purchase, installation and implementation of Systems hardware and software according to department standards and procedures.

6. Drive the development of network systems architecture, design, and ongoing review of system configurations in collaboration with relevant team members

7. Develop, document and implement operating procedures and participate in training as required

8. Develop and maintain Systems documentation such as gold builds, best practices, knowledgebase, disaster recovery backup and recovery.

9. Provide project management for the large computing projects that cross multiple technologies, platforms and administrative boundaries.

10. Work as liaison between other department managers and supervisors when coordinating support activities and project related tasks

11. Ensure that Systems, and related security standards are adhered to by staff. Review standards periodically with the Security and other IT Managers and implement changes as required.

12. Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members

13. Monitors, diagnoses, configures, enhances system performance within supported parameters to optimize effectiveness of hardware and software resource management.

14. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.

15. Participate in the "on-call" rotation.

16. Performs other job-related duties as necessary.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to train, direct, and evaluate staff, diagnose, correct and log computer projects and problems.

2. Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to articulate system methodologies and concepts; communicate effectively in providing technical guidance and expertise to other staff

3. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.



QUALIFICATIONS:

1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or comparable discipline or equivalent work experience.

2. EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of nine years' experience in Information Technology in an administrator role

· Subject matter expert with Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2 in an enterprise domain environment

· Subject matter expert with Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)

· Subject matter expert with AD group policies

· Subject matter expert with PowerShell and scripting processes

· Subject matter expert with vSphere system administration and support including VMotion, HA, DRS, vCenter Host Profiles, resource pools, Storage and P2V migrations

· Demonstrates exceptional knowledge with Citrix XenApp Presentation Server administration and support including farm, configuration, and profile management

· Demonstrates strong knowledge with Linux Red Hat

3. CERTIFICATIONS:

· Current Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert with Exchange, or Design electives, and one of the following:

· VMware Certified Advance Professional

· Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator
