Senior Mainframe/Financials Processing Analyst

job summary:
The Senior Mainframe/Financials Processing Analyst will report to the IT Manager of MI Support and will serve as the principal analyst and processing/data advisor for all mainframe ("legacy") and financials applications or systems. This position will primarily interface with the Underwriting, Servicing, Billing, Claims, and Financial functions within the business and will work closely with IT development and support teams to analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain automated software solutions.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Lead all analytical or diagnostic efforts for project development or critical production support issues that involve mainframe or financials processing
  • Interpret, document, and provide guidance on (to IT support teams) the purposes and uses of components, functions, and modules that comprise essential mainframe and financials processing
  • Provide guidance on all primary data repository contents and supporting data platform usages involved with essential mainframe and financials processing, including data integrations with non-mainframe systems
  • Collaborate with business analysts on mainframe or financials processing research and documentation needed to support development initiatives and projects
  • Develop and conduct mentoring/training sessions for business or IT resources as needed to improve the understanding of both functional processes and data content when needed in support of new development or support initiatives
  • Coordinate and assist with all disaster/recovery drill tests related to applications or systems that comprise essential mainframe and financials processing

    Requirements/Experience:
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Mathematics or equivalent field
  • Minimum of 12 years of proven technical leadership developing and supporting software solutions
  • Minimum of 10 years of mainframe-based technical support experience using TSO/ISPF, JCL, z/OS, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, CA7, and ACF2
  • Prefer 10 or more years of industry experience with insurance and financial (G/L, A/P, and F/A) systems concepts, conventions, and solutions
  • Prefer 5 or more years of technical experience with DB2, IDMS, and/or MQ Series
  • Prefer 5 or more years of mortgage insurance processing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex technical, processing, or data problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all business functions and build strong business partnerships
  • Passion for change and continual improvement and ability to effectively lead/drive change
