  • The team is responsible for managing infrastructure that supports the Nuclear fleet.
  • We are adding Linux to our
  • standard offerings and are looking for a Senior Linux Consultant to come in for the short-term and assist with building up our
  • Linux skillset within the team.
  • Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience installing, configuring and managing
  • RHEL in a VMware virtualization environment.

qualifications:
Qualifications - External

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science or a related discipline with 2 or more
  • years directly work related experience, Or 4 or more years directly work related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2 or more years practical experience with Operating Systems, Software and Hardware.
Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with vCenter Orchestrator, vRealize Operations and storage array integration
  • Experience with Software defined networking
  • Working knowledge of various environments included networking, SQL, Oracle, clustering and IIS
  • Scripting and automation capabilities
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
 
skills: Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform Linux Administrator activities
  • Installing, hardening and patching Linux operating systems
  • Developing and documenting technical procedures
  • Able to partition disks, create logical volumes, create file systems and mount file systems in Linux environments
  • Redhat Satellite Server configuration and usage experience.
  • Experience hardening Redhat systems
  • Experience with some configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible
  • Advanced knowledge of VMware technologies including: VMware vSphere 6.0, vCenter server and
  • Center Operations Manager,
  • Experience in the follow areas:
  • Management of Host Profiles in the vSphere environment and ensure hosts remain compliance
  • Patching ESX/ESXi hosts using Update Manager
  • Capacity management
  • Ability to install, configure, manage, upgrade, secure, and support Linux
  • Understanding of core infrastructure technologies: Active Directory, DNS, Network file sharing, server OS deployment
  • and configuration, virtualization, system hardening, and security patch management
  • Demonstrate an understanding of computer server architectures and peripherals.
  • Experience with configuring and managing SAN and NAS
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor to isolate and diagnose common system problems and document system events to
  • ensure continuous functionality
  • Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques.
  • Maintain and utilize operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU,
  • memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Review and apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/
  • add new services as necessary.
  • Proven ability to be self-directing, requiring limited management oversight, to be proactive in monitoring and maintaining
  • compute and storage infrastructure
  • Thrives in an iterative environment where there are many moving parts
