DevOps Engineer

job summary:
SBM Management is searching for a DevOps Engineer! The DevOps Engineer is responsible for developing and managing innovative software projects and products. They help architect servers, improve/ re-engineer the deployment process, uptime accountability, NOC duties, disaster mitigation and crisis management.

  • Understand the applications and how the customers are using them
  • Architect development, test and production environments
  • Help design application / database security
  • Own the deployment process
  • Implement and monitor production monitoring on the systems and applications
  • Own system and network security
  • Own system configuration and ensure uniform configuration across servers / infrastructure
  • Help identify hardware / software dependencies
  • Identify performance / bottleneck issues and create solutions to address them
  • Hold team members responsible for commitments
  • Proactively identify and communicate to the project stakeholders when timelines and commitments change
  • Provide clear and regular communication to key engineering partners about systems and infrastructure issues
  • Help manage outside vendors as it relates to systems and infrastructure
  • Travel may be required
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry certifications strongly preferred.
  • Experience in database monitoring and SQL tuning
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and general public.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a detailed knowledge of software development lifecycle, Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Experience with integrating data from multiple systems into single application or platform strongly preferred.
  • Customer service, problem solving, time management, project management, planning, excellent communication, presentation, interviewing, coaching and training skills.
  • Ability and experience working in a fast paced, evolving environment.
  • Expertise in at least one scripting language apart from shell scripting such as Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl, etc. Expertise with Jenkins; monitoring tools (i.e. Nagios, Graphite or Splunk); configuration tools (i.e. Chef or Puppet) and SQL Server.
  • Expertise in maintaining and configuring IIS web servers, including but not limited to SSL Configuration, website port configuration, application pooling, windows based authentication, ASP registration, machine file configuration, W3SVC logging, and web application deployment.
  • Experience with Logstash.
  • Experience with C# a plus.
