job description

Mainframe Decommission Consultant

job summary:
Our client has a short term contractor for a Mainframe Decommission Consultant in Sacramento, CA.

Our client has been working to decommission their Mainframe for the last few years. They are trying to determine if this should be completed in 2020 or be extended through 2021.

They are looking to bring in a Consultant to help determine the best approach.

This role will need to be onsite for meetings, and likely work part time basis over the next 4 - 6 weeks to develop a plan for the remaining mainframe decommission work.

Ideally our client would like someone with prior mainframe decommission experience, but a minimum the person they are looking for would need to have experience moving applications from the mainframe to another platform.

They are looking for someone to help evaluate the remaining work (which the work has been identified) and help facilitate a group of stakeholders through process of developing and evaluating options for the best possible course of action, resulting in recommendations to be presented to our client's executive leadership team.

There will be 3 - 6 meetings with the full team through mid-January, and then this person will also need to conduct meetings with the key stakeholders to understand their perspectives, risks and concerns.

The ultimate decision will be to either complete all the remaining mainframe decommission work in 2020, or to extend the work through 2021.

This person will need to have experience working with large stakeholder groups with many varying view points, and also be able to bring new ideas and options to the table.
