Oracle Database Administrator

job summary:
Responsibilities:

  • Migrate Oracle databases from Solaris Sparc to Exadata
  • Install, Configure RAC databases for high availability
  • Upgrade databases from 11g to Oracle 12c/18c
  • Configure and support OEM 13c for monitoring, alerting, management and automation
  • Install and configure Golden Gate and Active Data Guard for data replication
  • Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments
  • Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements
  • Ability to work independently and to resolve complex Oracle issues
  • Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.
  • Proactive monitoring of the databases
  • Troubleshoot Oracle performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs
  • Manage backup/recovery for Oracle instances
  • Management of database and resource capacity planning.
  • Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, SOX regulations, and company policies
  • Installation of new Oracle instances and upgrades

  • Proficient and experienced with Exadata (esp. migrations to Exadata)
  • Proficient and experienced with Oracle RAC (design, configuration, installations and tuning), including version Oracle 12c and above.
  • Proficient and experienced with OEM 13c
  • Proficient and experienced with ASM, RMAN and Active Data Guard database technologies.
  • Proficient and experienced with Golden Gate technology.
  • Oracle Database Tuning and Performance - usage of statspack, AWR, ADDM, ASH and UNIX native commands
  • Oracle backup and recovery configuration and procedures
  • Strong production support experience & customer service skills
  • Proven track record in supporting large number of DBs simultaneously
  • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture principles
  • Ability to develop data requirements and configure database parameters accordingly
