job summary:
The STMS consists of a travel application that is powered by the Salesforce platform using custom Apex coding on Visual Force pages. This application provides for electronic standardized forms for travel approvals, reimbursements, and travel advances. These forms are electronically routed for approval and the system interfaces with the state personnel system (People First) and the state accounting system (FLAIR). The system will also need to connect to the new state accounting system known as Florida PALM. The system also provides for reporting functions. The Client also provides a custom-built user management client to agencies. This client is written in Windows Powershell and enables agencies to manage their user configurations in STMS.

Each application architect shall be responsible for coding various bug fixes and enhancements to the existing STMS system, testing, debugging, and code promotion to production, as well as maintaining timelines and producing technical documentation. Application architects shall work with the enterprise system administrator and the team's data analyst to map out enhancements to the system and the various custom applications running in Salesforce and Azure in support of STMS technical initiatives and strategies.

Preference will be given to candidates who have strength in the following areas:

- Experience in coding from diverse and newly formed business requirements;

- Experience in serving in Apex development for enterprise level Salesforce systems of large scale;

- State of Florida financial system background in the specific area of expense tracking and FLAIR integration; and

- Specific experience with development in Windows Powershell in a Windows Active Directory environment.

A. Job Description

1. Position Overview:

This position is responsible for development support and enhancement initiatives for STMS, coding, testing and creating documentation in support of the organization's technical initiatives and strategies.

2. Key Areas of Responsibility: Analysis and Solution

- Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, as well as task and workflow analysis.

- Develops, tests, documents and implements Apex code on the VisualForce pages for enhancements to the STMS application and other supporting applications, including the user management client.

- Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts effectively, transforms high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.

- Develops requirements and specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.

- Proactively communicates and collaborates with stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and provides the following documentation deliverables as needed: functional requirements, business requirements, use cases, test cases, and interface designs.

- Evaluates underlying assumptions for the implementation plan and challenges the vendor and agency business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.

- Collaborates with solution designers, agency IT personnel and subject matter experts to complete development tasks.

- Provides input for project planning to accomplish project goals with constraints, such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.

Project Execution

- Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously.

- Works independently with users to define concepts.

- Completes tasks as required by project deadlines and schedules.

- Communicates and applies project standards.

- Manages resources in accordance with project schedule.

- Ensures requirements, functionality and resource allocations meet project deliverables based on the nature and scope of the project.

Technical Development and Testing

- Leads testing efforts.

- Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

- Works with client personnel to identify required changes.

- Develops and deploys needed changes to the STMS application.

Training and Documentation

- Assist with the development of training materials.

- Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

- Documents system code base and enhancements.

3. Required Qualifications and Experience:

- College diploma or university degree in business, commerce or information technology.

- At least five (5) years of experience, or the equivalent in education and experience.

- Minimum of two years of Apex code development.

4. Skills and Competencies: Communication

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally

with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

- Ability to communicate technical matters clearly in lay terms for full comprehension by non-technical users.

- Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Technical Understanding

- Skilled in Apex coding and development and possesses a detailed understanding of Lightning Components and SOQL.

- Configure Salesforce roles, permissions, sharing rules, reports and dashboards.

- Automate using Process Builder, Workflows.

- Integrate custom Salesforce application using web services, SOAP/REST APIs.

- Understands how legacy and web-based systems interface.

- Working knowledge of relational databases.

- Understanding of Windows PowerShell scripting in an Active Directory environment and integration of Active Directory Single-Sign-On services with Salesforce.

- Develops well-structured, maintainable, and easy to understand code.

- Ability to integrate systems with third party applications.
