Java Application Systems Engineer

job summary:
The Lead Developer will spearhead the development of the research platform to support Fund Operations process.

In this new role, you will lead application design, development, testing and deployment as per SDLC methodology. Code quality, security and nimbleness are of utmost importance as is the ability to partner successfully with teams across the firm.

The successful candidate will:

- Act as technical thought leader and hands-on expert developer

- Act as internal expert to technology and business groups, enabling and supporting the adoption of cutting edge technologies by fund administration and operation teams

- Build strong relationships with fund operation teams, analysts and developers

- Build, develop and support a high-performing statement processing and other fund operation platforms

- Demonstrate outstanding drive and focus on delivering new capabilities to fund operation teams

Required Qualifications:

- 10 + years of application development experience

- 8+ years of experience in specifically Java 1.8; J2EE; Web services; Weblogic/Tomcat/Apache servers; Cloud Foundry; Application Framework (e.g. Spring); Front end framework (JQuery); RDBMS MSSSQL Oracle; Build tools like Jenkins, Github, UDeploy, Artifactory, Maven; Linux (RedHat); Junit; Log4j; Code quality scanners (e.g. Fortify, Blackduck)

- 8+ years of experience with creating/supporting data processes like data cleansing, data quality and data distribution

- 8+ years of investment industry experience

- 8 + years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles

Desired Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or higher MIS, CS or other technology related field

- Proven experience working effectively in heavily distributed environment

- Proven experience with full lifecycle application development including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, implementation and performance tuning

- Exhibited experience with designing and developing software applications according to customer requirements while maintaining strong documentation

- Proven strong verbal and written communication skills

- Experience with the ability to transfer knowledge to key members of the team and act as a value-added resource

- Proven experience of being on-call for support and maintenance issues; able to troubleshoot independently in a 7 X 24 X 365 environments (shared on-call rotating schedule)

- Experience designing and developing user interfaces

- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

- Demonstrated ability collaborate with teams spanning a range of locations

- Awareness of real-time and batch distributed technologies

- Vendor management experience
