Associate Research Analyst

job summary:
This position is responsible for extracting data, cleansing data, data management and report development for Premier pharmaceutical/medical device clients, other external clients (government, academic organizations, and research organizations) and for internal clients from the Premier Healthcare Database (PHD) and other sources utilized by Premier Life Sciences (PLS). This role also provides quality assurance review of data deliverables and reports, and all organization, scheduling, and communications regarding delivery of Premier data assets both internally and externally. In addition, this position supports feasibility requests regarding capabilities of using the PHD for both internal and external clients, and may assist Premier Principal Research Scientists, Senior Research Analysts and Research Analysts in providing methodologically sound solutions to address client market analytic requests.

This position functions internally in collaboration with PLS Principal Research Scientists, PLS Senior Analysts, PLS Research Analysts, PLS Data Research and Analytic Managers, Market Development Management, Product Management, Informatics IT, Data Warehouse team, and other stakeholders to ensure required deliverables are met.

responsibilities:
Run and Deliver Data Extracts

  • Write SQL to create patient populations for data extracts
  • Run data extracts
  • Load data to FTP sites and external devices
  • Create data delivery notices for clients
  • Obtain necessary approvals for delivery of data
  • Write/Alter SAS programs/Unix scripts to aid in data delivery process
  • Develop/Implement process improvements to streamline the data delivery process

    Data Analysis and Report Development
  • Run programs to extract data from the database(s): NETEZZA (warehouse) etc.
  • Support the development of SQL and SAS programs for ad hoc requests, feasibility counts for sales process, and marketing analyses
  • Run programs to produce reports for clients, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, the government, hospitals, internal customers and other external customers
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews
  • Support production of report documentation
Consultative Support to Internal and External Clients

  • Triage client questions about the data and analysis
  • Utilize knowledge of data base structures and contents as well as intimate knowledge of data extract process to provide support on design and implementation of new data products
General Administration of Data Extract Products

  • Maintain a current delivery log of all data related client deliverables
  • Schedule delivery of data based on terms of contract
  • Track use and assignment of permanent FTP sites (includes password management)
  • Ensure proper approvals were obtained for all deliverables and that deliverables match to the contract terms
  • Track versions of data each client receives
  • Plan and coordinate delivery of quarterly data
  • Provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • Other administrative activities that may arise from new data related product offerings
