Logistics Management is the part of supply chain management that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward, and reverse flow and storage of goods, services, and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption to meet customer's requirements and company objectives.

The Global Logistics Manager will lead CLIENT's global shipping activities. They will organize and coordinate the storage and distribution of goods on a domestic and international level. They will ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and in a cost-efficient manner.

Global Logistics Managers will also be responsible to provide leadership to the logistics team. They must have an accurate and precise attention to detail to manage daily operations, logistics, logistics personnel and logistics systems.

The Global Logistics Manager will be responsible for negotiating rates, shipping routes, and shipping methods with multiple shipping vendors around the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, and supervise the global logistics activities and processes.
  • Schedule, coordinate and track all product inbound and outbound movement on a domestic and international level.
  • Negotiate rates with approved select carriers, third party services, freight forwarders, customs broker, drayage, and warehouse.
  • Design, implement and manage a carrier and service provider qualification process
  • Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement in all CLIENT logistics processes.
  • Obtain export freight quotations and determine which air/sea forwarders will provide the most reliable and efficient service as required for each shipment.
  • Maintain updated freight cost information.
  • Audit and code freight forwarders' freight bills for payment with appropriate general ledger account numbers.
  • Verification of Import/Export Compliance approval to ship and assistance in problem resolution.
  • Coordinate shipping information with global logistics and track delivery of products at all key transit points.
  • Prepare all necessary export documentation, including various legal forms and certificates required for each shipment.
  • Responsible for keeping hazardous material certification for all three modes of transportation up to date.
  • Respond to shipping complaints, lost items and damages to ensure timely resolutions occur.
  • Analyze financial impact of logistics changes, routing and shipping modes.
  • Design, assess and implement new strategies and initiatives.
  • Assist other departments, as necessary, with filling out exportation request forms to expedite their shipments.
  • Maintain log of all shipping activity monthly and prepare reports.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures.
  • Suggesting operational changes for efficiency improvement for the logistics department.
  • Maintain R2, ISO and OHSAS compliance in the Logistics department.
  • Report to CLIENT sales and purchasing team on delivery schedule timing and performance.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with all levels of the organization, articulate ideas, and process improvements to executive leadership.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in Production and Operations Planning for understanding and execution of monthly plan and goals.
  • Provide peer mentoring to process stakeholders to support company objectives
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with company processes.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPI's) for Logistics team and set department objectives based on company strategic direction.
  • Host scheduled structured meetings to foster open communication amongst direct reports, share process updates, celebrate successes, and address concerns.
  • Measure and manage Logistics Department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and metrics.
  • Mentor, support, coach and develop all direct reports through professional development, while also holding them accountable for performance against stated goals.
  • Accomplish department objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, addressing employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with Human Resources to evaluate team members and create individual development and training plans that meet company and team member objectives.
  • Address performance, behavior or conduct issues according to the CLIENT Direct progressive disciplinary action process and provide proper follow up documentation to Human Resources.
  • Perform job shadow regularly, understand what your direct reports do and where time is spent.
  • Create a work environment that supports and values a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
  • Other special projects as requested by management.
Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or another related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience from a similar position such as Logistics Management or Lead.
