ABOUT LOON

Loon is built on a sophisticated system of products and services that combine advancements in materials science, atmospheric modeling, machine learning, and communications systems. These platforms enable Loon to harness the stratosphere, transforming global connectivity and creating endless possibilities for new applications by bridging ground, sky and space.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Help to define the user model and user interface for Loon's Network Operations Website.
  • Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Gauge the usability of new and existing products, as well as making constructive suggestions for change.
ABOUT THE ROLE

We have a growing list of external partners that will adapt our products such as aerospace networking and fleet management. This role will help define the product experience for our enterprise customers.

In this role, you will visualize complex data and design systems to enable network connectivity from space. You will collaborate with cross-functional teammates who are excited to support product excellence and deliver interaction flows and high-fidelity mocks to create great experiences for our internal teams and enterprise customers.

  • Design data visualizations from complex, scalable data sets
  • Create, develop, and evolve design patterns and the overall visual language for Loon platforms and enterprise Material Design

qualifications:
  • Comfortable with executing lightweight research projects
  • Ability to collaborate with members of cross functional teams including Engineering, Product and other UX team members
 
skills: Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces
  • 5+ years of experience using Google's material design principles
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Visualization (familiarity with presenting complex data sets conveying technical workflows)
  • Solid academic background in human-computer interaction or related field
  • Knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes
  • Strong visual design sense
  • Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong familiarity with Material Design, Data Visualization and Enterprise interfaces involving technical domains.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguous product specifications
  • A ***portfolio*** demonstrating excellence in both interaction and visual design skills
Desired

  • Experience building design systems
  • Experience in Enterprise and data heavy interfaces
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboard design
  • Motion design fluency
  • Well versed in applying Material Design to complex, enterprise products
  • Comfortable with executing lightweight research projects
  • Ability to collaborate with members of cross functional teams including Engineering, Product and other UX team members
